Smolik's Smokehouse

Unbelievably tasty Barbeque, their chicken fried steak is my vice. The selection of homemade pies and sweets is delicious. It is a nice hometown environment with a friendly wait staff. Strawberry lemonade and brisket makes a Saturday afternoon lunch complete.

Even though this place been around for a while this was my first time coming here for the so called brisket sandwich. The sandwich was real good with a good ample amount of sliced brisket. I would probably give this place 5 stars but i just have one concern. Even though it's during this times during the pandemic we went through the drive-thru. I must say I was disappointed in the amount of time it took me to get my sandwich. There was a total of 3 vehicles ahead of me and I know I stood in that drive-thru line for over 30 minutes. I will tolerate the longer times considering what we are going through but I'm sure they can do better than that.

1 lb of brisket was 1/3rd fat. Waited in line only to be told to get in another line for to go orders.

Can't go wrong with Smolik's. Always a favorite when we're in town! Great food and great service!

Service was EXCELLENT, food was amazing! We tried the brisket and ribs! A must try! The bbq sauce complimented the smokiness of the meats! The dining room was clean and so were the restrooms. The French silk pie and coconut pie were delish! Great place to stop if you happen to be driving through Mathis,TX.

I'm doing the happy dance when I come here. It's always so good and affordable. It's been pretty consistent and I've really enjoyed the BBQ. I have yet to try something I didn't like. It just feels like good ol' Texas BBQ.

Came in for the BBQ! This is a convenient place to stop right off the highway, with ample parking, and fast service. They offer a full array of meat- sausages, fowl, beef, pork- you name it. The interior is made to look like a rustic barn setting. I got the brisket sandwich- which was piled high with a lean brisket. It had been smoked well, but was served with a pretty weak sauce. They could really step up their BBQ sauce game. They offer sweet tea, and all drinks come in to-go containers. Convenient if you're on the road, but Mother Nature will suffer. Sigh!The service was friendly, but slow.Prices are fair, considering how much meat you get! You get piles of meat. I pity the vegan who stumbles into this cathedral of meat. The restaurant also serves as a gift shop- need a cookbook written by the local church ladies or day old pastries? This place has 'em! They've got a curious collection of religious articles- crosses to hang on your wall, signs with Bible quotes on them.

Last week, my husband ordered a sliced brisket sandwich (marbled side) at the window of the downtown location. When he got home and opened it, it had a 1/2" slab of white fat and a little bit of fat. He didn't take it back because we live too far away. He was very disappointed. The sandwiches had always been good in the past.

Definitely five stars! Stopped here on the way back from the coast. We're glad that we did. I had the 1/2 chicken plate with 2 sides. Excellent all around and great service. We will be back. Highly recommend.
