Smokin J’s BBQ

I ordered pork ribs, marbled brisket, Boari sausage, potato salad coleslaw and beans and then all the trimmings on the side.I tasted all of the meats without the sauce and with the sauce. They very much hold up on their own without the sauce but the sauce is very tasty and not exactly overpowering. It just adds a delectable light layer to the meats. And I have to tell you I normally do not like potato salad from barbecue joints because it is an afterthought for most places. However here at Smokin' J's they really did put some thought into the layers of the potato salad. It is very good, it's not overdone, it's just simple. It has its own clear voice in the mix which is kind of hard to do when you're dealing with barbecue. The beans are very good as well and I love that they use vegetables in the beans such as onions and tomatoes. Also there coleslaw is amazing. It's light it's refreshing and crisp. I can see having a sandwich on sourdough with just some marbled brisket and coleslaw on a toasted sourdough bread. That sounds really good. And with all these plates that I bought I will have dinner for the next two or three days which is fine by me because that means I don't have to cook!The building is pretty old, it used to be Comanche Cafe and then Garrett's barbecue and now we have Smokin' J's and I believe it is a great evolution for this building. You seriously need to try this barbecue joint.
