An amazing gem in the Rio Grande Valley! I saw a FB ad on a page I follow so another couple and the Waite and I figured, why not? First off, this isn't your ordinary Texas BBQ joint. It's a fusion of sorts - BBQ and Mexican. Fitting as we are only a few miles north of the Rio Grande River and Mexico, yet still in Texas. So, the menu is a bit eclectic, containing elements of both cuisines. For example, they had a Brisket sandwich, very Texan and, utilizing the same USDA Prime brisket, also had what the termed a Dang Quesadilla, a griddled quesadilla stuffed with chopped brisket and cotija cheese. On the night we visited tone of their specials was brisket street tacos. And boy... were they great! I also ordered a house made jalapeño and cheddar smoked sausage. It was the best sausage I've ever eaten. It was so flavorful and juicy. Not too spicy but just right. For sides I got the ranchero beans and a very good version of Mexican Street Corn, also very tasty. My wife ordered the loaded brisket nachos and thoroughly enjoyed them. Our dining companions ordered the loaded brisket fries - waffle fries topped with all sorts of goodies and a good pile of brisket whil the other ordered that Dang Quesadilla. Everyone raved about their meals. The owner greeted up personally as we walked into the business which is a covered outdoor eating area, an area for frisbee golf plus a couple shipping containers concerted into a really nice indoor eating area plus restrooms. The whole complex is very nice and the pride of the owner is evident. He walked us through the various offerings and specials on the menu and once seated in the indoor area came back several times to check on us. During his last visit he told us about their dessert items; chocolate chip cookies and snickerdoodles, both baked in house. 2 for $5 so we ordered four snickerdoodles. They were really good and, here's a little surprise... they use some of the rendered beef tallow from the briskets IN THE COOKIES!!! I know...it sounds weird... but it works! Anyway, if you're in the Mission, TX area check them out. You won't be disappointed. We are already planning our next visit and bringing some other friends with us.

Way too expensive for a measly serving of meat. The brisket was good, sauce was nothing to rave about. Ordered brisket nachos, brisket sandwich, and jalapeño cheese sausage. Very small portions for the money. Not looking for a free meal but expect more for my money. The response by Mr. Jaime made me reconsider my review. I have increased it to 3 stars as this is a locally owned business and the work that goes into everything they do is noteworthy and behind the scenes. The taste was not bad. My only expectation was a more generous serving of meat. The price of brisket nachos was excessive considering the few ounces of meat received. Mr. Jaime defends his business and rightfully so but the fact of the matter is I am the customer and am offering a honest review. There is no bias. I am not associated with any other restaurant, and only offer my subjective opinion on this platform after my experience.

Even though my family caters brisket/bbq I'm always looking for new bbq spots to try. I'm quite picky when it comes to brisket and this place did NOT disappoint! My bestie knows one of the cooks and brought me here to try the food and I was surprised to find it's right down the street from my house! I try to order something different every time I go so I can try their newer items and I'm always pleased with the quality and flavor of the food. I LOVE their sausages and brisket Mac and cheese! As for the serving size and pricing, look I'll be honest, I already know when I go to a bbq spot, I'm prepared to pay big bucks. My dad caters brisket so I know how expensive meat is and I understand serving portions and pricing. There are maybe 2 spots I don't mind spending $$$ when it comes to excellent bbq and Smokecrafters is one of them! I can't tell you how many bbq places I've been too and spent an obscene amount of money for bbq that did not satisfy and that's where I have an issue. If I'm spending a lot of money on bbq I want it to be amazing! And that's what Smokecrafters has, amazing bbq! Even if you think the portion size is small, which it may be for some but I'm a pretty hefty person and I love to eat and I can promise you that you will not be disappointed with all the food you get! In fact, I think the portions are perfect since we always like to order a few things off the menu and share. Sometimes we don't even finish everything! It's been awhile since I've made it out there BUT I think they've come such a long way with their set up! The seating is great and the place looks so inviting! And Omg the cooks/staff are always super friendly. They came to check on us to make sure we were having a great time and enjoying the food and even answered all of our questions about their grilling/cooking process which was nice.I can't recommend this place enough! If you think it's too pricey, I would have to say their prices are pretty standard, maybe even slightly less expensive than other bbq places but this bbq is actually worth it. So yeah go prepared to spend a decent amount of money because I guarantee you'll want to try everything and even get some of their delicious desserts!

This place was absolutely amazing!!! If any restaurant deserves a brick and mortar building this place does! The best brisket I have had! The mac and cheese is my favorite guilty pleasure with the brisket nachos, moist brisket, and Brisket Covered Cheese Waffle Fries!!! Wow!!! Then the banana pudding and strawberry shortcake was insanely amazing.... 10/10 five stars all the way!!!! Seriously, I just saw some earlier posts and wanted to meet some friends there and it was fantastic! Highly highly recommended!

Great spot for a casual meal. They put a twist on burgers and make the patty with brisket. Very generous portion of meat. Housemade waffle fries were fantastic.Outdoor setting with big covered picnic tables and a fire pit for the colder nights. A second counter serves up beer/cocktails and $3 root beer floats! Most noteworthy part was the amazing service. It's clear they're a good team and want their business to thrive.P.S. If your heart is set on a specific menu item, you can check out their website before heading out to see what is still available and even order online to reserve. (They keep it current all night long- so awesome of them)

What a great find! Tucked away in a lot just off 107 away from other restaurants and a bit hard to find is this legitimately good brisket joint--and you know when sitting down because the sauce bottles are scarcely found. All of the flavor is in the meat, all prime, and you can taste it!Fantastic place to take young children. It's fenced in w a large open area they can play in, running around while the food is prepped and they have some fun family games out like corn holes, giant jenga, giant checkers etc. The atmosphere compels uou to put down your phone and have some good old fashioned family fun w great food!Reasonable pricing for the quality of bbq. A sandwich and side will run you about $10.Highly recommend it!
