You would think visiting a cemetery would be odd, but this gravesite and the hospital down the street pay so much tribute to the life, legacy, and tragedy of Selena. It was easy to find her grave with the big fence around it. There were other mourners for loved ones and for Selena alike at the park. I was impressed that almost every grave had a flower by it, someone to remember. As for Selena, fans had dropped by bottles of Coca Cola, bags of Doritos, and a copy of her book. Only spent a few minutes there to pay my respects, but it's hard to think about someone who was so young and so loved among her fans at her eternal resting place. 2021 #63

upkeep is poor. A lot of lawn, flower and stone detail need work. The peaceful bench that resyed by my brother-in-law's marker is gone. Perhaps, weather, vandals or time destroyed it. A new one needs to be put in its place.

I used to believe this location was such a beautiful site to have your love here as their final resting place. Unfortunately; service and accountability is far from stellar. Yes, this is Selena's resting place however; let's not forget there are other people's love ones that are there also. Every plot deserves proper upkeep and maintenance. If a vase is broken when mowing the lawn replacement fee shouldn't be on the family.

First time for everything, right? Never did I think I'd be writing a review for a cemetery, but here goes...The reason I came to the Seasdie Memorial Park & Funeral Home was to visit the grave of the late singer, Selena while I was in Corpus Christi. The grave was located toward the center of the cemetery and featured a decently sized fence around it so you couldn't get too close to the grave marker.Fans had thrown over flowers and coins to leave their mark on Selena, just has she has left her mark on all of us.It's a beautiful final display of the late singer of her all too short life.If you're a Selena fan it's definitely worth coming to pay your respects if you're in the area, and if you go to the Selena Museum first (like I did) they give you directions to the burial site.

I concur with most of the other posts about the appalling condition of this cemetery, owned by Service International Corporation of Houston, the parent company of the "Dignity" chain of funeral homes. The last time I visited my family's graves in 2012, it was during another drought down there and all the grass was brown except for where family members were coming in and doing the watering themselves. I learned that the cemetery had been bought by a big company which had bought up all they could in the city. I think the only one they didn't have was the very old Holy Cross, near Miller High School, adjacent to the equally old Rose Hill, which is owned by the Catholic Diocese and has very few plots left, almost all for children only. I was told by a woman in the office, when I went to complain about things there, about the new ownership and she assured me that they were conforming to "the minimum standards" required by the state, that the previous ownership was "over-maintaining" the place. My first family member buried there was one of my mother's brothers in 1956. He picked a nice spot (then) at a intersection of two interior drives, on a corner with a nice-looking (then) mesquite tree with a carved white stone bench underneath it. He joked after he selected it that "he was going to come out at night and sit on the bench!" Subsequently, not only was his wife buried there but both my parents and another aunt and uncle were put right next to their gravesites. When we buried my mother in 2009, the last of those six to pass away, I noticed that both the tree and the bench were gone. I asked at the office about that and was told then that the tree had died and, hence, the bench was removed. At the time, I didn't realize that they had no intention of replacing the tree. I just assumed they would. When I subsequently visited again in 2012 and the tree still hadn't been replaced, much less the bench, they then gave me the song-and-dance about the state's minimum requirements, etc. There was no apology given for my grievance, nothing, no "I'm sorry, but..." They had no intention of replacing the tree and if any family member wanted to plant anything themselves, if it interfered with mowing or any other of their necessary activities, it would be removed. Also, they wouldn't guarantee its survival unless it was watered by the family and they wouldn't replace it if it died. I think they also said that leaving anything on the grave that they didn't approve, including mementos or flowers, would be removed. They don't make an effort to prevent grass from overgrowing the ground-level grave monuments and the grass at the base of the upright ones is a very dead and ugly brown because they use a defoliant to kill the grass so they won't have to trim it. The flag and flagpole in the veterans' section is not maintained properly, often being broken, torn or soiled. Someone local should inform a veterans' organization down there about the last concern. Include the GI Forum, if it still exists. Its founder, Dr. Hector Garcia, is buried within a few feet of my parents and he was once considered a big deal down there. Our aggrieved families should consider a class-action lawsuit against the present owners for violating the perpetual-care contracts our family members signed with the previous owners! The company is now reported online as having been sued previously in five states, including Texas, for gross mismanagement, with legal violations, of either funeral homes, cemeteries or both. The other four are Florida, Virginia, Massachusetts and California. One of the cases in Florida was so egregious that the settlement for the plaintiffs was in the neighborhood of $100 million. The company has also been sanctioned at least once by the FTC for violations of its rules and was stopped twice from acquiring similar companies in proposed mergers because the outcome appeared to be too monopolistic. My wife and I are interested in looking into a class-action lawsuit against this company for its disrespect towards our family members buried there who all signed "perpetual care" contracts with the previous owner of the property. That's supposed to mean that there was a kind of trust fund established to maintain these graves "in perpetuity." The state regulatory agency involved here is the Texas Banking Commission. It makes me wonder if the new owner has a fiduciary responsibility for the maintenance of the property and they are just in the game in order to loot those trust funds.Post messages via FB to James E. Embry if interested in the class-action thing.

Ok I am reviewing the gravesite of beautiful Selena, not the cemetery itself as I don't know nothing about the place. But Selena's memorial gravesite is magical and it'll bring tears to your eyes filled with the memories of her smile. The artists of Selena's stone image on her gravesite did an amazing job, its truly beautiful. You really have to come visit this place once in your lifetime, its very special and spiritually peaceful.

Despite what a simple Google search would lead one to believe, Selena is not the only person buried at Seaside Memorial. There are actually 27 thousand memorials here and growing everyday. And at least half a dozen of them are my relatives (and grew by one in the past couple months). One thing that had been troubling me for a couple years was not being able to find my grandfather's memorial on either their website or Find a Grave. I have since realized the disconnect: Find a Grave lists about 21k memorials for Seaside while Seaside's website claims 27k (which could be woefully outdated for all I know). And there's 629 open photo requests on Find a Grave. So, at least 6 thousand people are not even on Find a Grave nor seemingly searchable on the cemetery website? Plus, 629 people out there desiring a photo of a memorial because this is a relative of theirs and the cemetery doesn't even bother to help document and post these? It's the epitome of "take the money and run" in my opinion. Like they'll gladly take thousands of dollars to bury your loved one but where's the post sales care here? Nor am I able to find my relative's tribute, possibly because it would have cost extra that my 'uela could not afford. But there should at least be a notice on the website of her service and if they want to charge extra for an expanded tribute, they can do that. But this whole thing has struck a very ugly chord for me. When we went in to find out where exactly my cousin was buried we had to wait forever for them to look it up. Then I mentioned to one of the people working that we could not find it on Find A Grave and the man almost laughed and said "we're not associated with them at all". Umm, it's 2017 dude, hardly something to brag about that you're not associated with the largest online repository of gravesites. The woman finally found where my cousin and aunt and uncle were buried and was going to show us where it was. We were supposed to follow her. Well, we barely got out to our car and we see her beige truck tearing trough the cemetery like a bat out of hell. For one thing, this was extremely disrespectful to be driving so fast through a cemetery and two, it is rude to drive that fast when someone is following you. You would think someone who works at a cemetery would know this. But this is Corpus. We get to my cousin's grave and I want to cry by the state of it. The whole area is very uneven with monuments and gravestones all akimbo and unlevel. It has been very sloppily mowed. His headstone is not even edged. And his vase has been stolen. My mother asks the worker about the vase and she flippantly responses that they get stolen all the time. And that they have a sign saying Seaside is not responsible for the thefts. But if we want to buy a new vase, it is $295 to replace it. Just what kind of racket are these people running here? My uncle's huge monument is so unlevel, I can't imagine anyone but the biggest jerk would think that that is acceptable. Like these people have zero care about the state of any of these gravesites. We notice several stolen vases, unlevel monuments, and poorly edged headstones. That's just how they do it here I guess. It breaks my heart that I have so many loved ones spending eternity with these crooks and jerks.

Seaside Memorial Park 2020-2021 unfortunately the busiest they have ever been and audio video equipment continue not to work properly or work at all .I just don't get it . Details . It's so important . No warning what so ever that the video projector didn't have sound or playback capabilities until we arrived . I was helping family 9-23-21 and we literally had to hold a mic up to the laptop so the audience could hear the memorial video that produced for the family . What would the family of done if I wasn't there ? Very disappointed.

Perpetual care remains to be seen. Vsiting our loved ones is disheartening when you arrive and see the horrible conditions of our family plotS. Unless you bark about conditions, or even after you bark about conditions, expect a few months to pass before you are compelled to bark again before you then might might see improvement... partially,,, then .... Nothing. They don't respect nor fulfill perpetual care. Respect is a lost cause with Seaside. We are regretting having our family at seaside. So disappointing, Sept. 2022
