Sandcastle Condominiums & Event Center

As a former Condo Owner in Port Aransas, I know what makes a great rental and Sandcastle is indeed great. I can't imagine that that any short term rental facility has come back from Harvey better than Sandcastle. It's truly a Resort. We were owners at another complex for 40+ years and this was our first time as renters. Wife and I stayed all of January in Condo 533, a 1 BR withGreat layout, monster screen TV, King Bed, great kitchen and great view. Maybe the best part is a very comfortable and nap-able Sectional sofa. (A Big plus). The view of the beach is outstanding. The other pluses: The hot tubsStayed open in the winter; The Sandcastle staff was outstanding and the maintenance crew were doing something everyday to make it even better (hard workers). We Highly recommend Sandcastle and 533 if you're needing a 1BR. ..

Room 319 has a great view. The bed is very comfortable. Unfortunately we killed two roaches and warning - this room is very bright....all the time. No blackout curtains with pool lights shinning in all night. I would stay here again but definitely bring something to block out the light.

DO NOT STAY IN ROOM #419. The room was very dirty and the bed was practically falling apart and there were two old flat disgusting pillow on the bed! The sheets and blankets seemed like they were donated from goodwill! The toilet moved when you sat on it and it has a bad smell. The front desk is not responsible for absolutely anything! I asked for extra pillow or pillow case and they said they do not have anything extra at hand other than for what's in the room. I asked for two additional towel and they said they do not give out additional towels. I asked for them to get me in contact with the owner of the unit or someone else in charge because we needed toswitch rooms. They said if we did that they would keep our deposit for the current room and we would have to pay full price for the new room.We opted to stay in the current room. The front desk person later brought an old disgusting blanket to use as a pillow. Very unpleasant experience! We will not be returning.

Great place to stay- a minute from the beach if you're in a golf cart and only a few minutes walk. We stayed in unit #114 and it was clean and perfect for the two of us for the 4 days we stayed here. They even let us check in early for no additional costs. Only complaint about this unit was the shower had a bad leak so water would get all over the floor, but I let them know already, so hopefully it will be fixed by the time the next guest arrives. Overall we had a great stay for our anniversary.

This is a review of the customer service and staff at this establishment - particularly Abby. I normally don't do this - single-handedly picking a staff member to base my review on but boy did she deserve it. In all fairness I do have to say we loved the unit we were staying in as we had a great view of the ocean as well as the pool. Notwithstanding our love for the unit itself though this is one establishment I would never consider returning to it because of how horribly managed this place is. We had a severe thunderstorm on the morning of our checkout. To the extent that the tables and chairs out on the patio were pretty close to shattering the sliding glass doors. The thunderstorm watch was in effect until 2pm and since we checked in at 1am, her much more considerate colleague extended our checkout to noon since there were no guests checking in for at least two nights after our checkout. We are traveling with two babies and my little one was hysterical over the thunder and lightening and she was TERRIFIED. I called the front desk and had the misfortune of getting Abby on the phone. I asked her if it would be possible to extend the checkout time and she said the most I can do is 11:30 - which was clearly not the case. I told her that we already got clearance to leave at noon. I was completely fine with paying for the ability to make sure that we don't encounter dangerous road conditions especially since the storm watch was severe enough to be an Amber alert. There was no budging with this woman. She did not budge to even ask management or to check to see what, if anything she could do to ensure that she would provide some minimal service. She pretended as if a paid checkout was not even an option.I have a company managing STR properties with 5* super host status and know exactly what limitations and authorities hosts and management companies are faced with. Being a human first and foremost, is the most fundamental component to being a great and valued host. The house you may be hosting could be a multimillion dollar property but you will lose business left and right if you have no capacity to properly manage it. This is a customer service industry and this establishment unfortunately is failing miserably if this woman is representative of the capacity to which they are willing to service their property management.

Found this place on a search for a little vacation. Drive 18 hours and it did not disappoint. We arrived and the island was out of gas. We arrived early and we were not able to check in early and was told the room was being cleaned. Won't hold that against them as it says check in is at 4pm. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The hot tub was amazing and we spent every night there while we were here. Our room 416 was clean and modern and perfect. The washer and dryer are compact so you get four towels and I washed daily- but was ok with that as I was just thankful to be able to do our laundry in the room. Walking distance to the beach. Amazing ocean view and loved having my coffee on the balcony and listening to the birds and ocean. Turtles in the pond area.

UNIT 526We were informed a 6 days before our reserved stay our unit's water would be turned off from 9:30am to 5pm. I spent a lot of time emailing with Chance Sessions, the premier host as well as VRBO. As per VRBO's recommendation I am posting this review. We can not get our deposit refunded. The best Chance Sessions will do is move our stay forward one night....no discount, no refund. No running water means no toilet, no dishes, no handwashing, no shower during a full day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is unbelievable to us that we are not getting a refund. We made the reservation expecting to have running water, I don't think that is unreasonable. What is unreasonable is not to refund our money!!!!!!!

On the beach! If you go to the beach: don't you want to hear and see the beach? I do- so no renting a house!The Sandcastle Condominium Resort is all remodeled after the Hurricane Harvey & WOW! The units are so nice (they adjoin so you could rent 5 and have them all connect!).:Oh, now EV charging which my daughter is excited about (it was a pain for her to find EV charging on the Island in the past). :Balconies to watch the Sunrise or just take in the shade & hear the surf. View the stars at night. :The pool & hot tubs are amazing & a boardwalk to the beach. They even had live music at the pool. :Tennis courts & I hear new pickle ball courts are coming. :A gym. :A conference center for reunions, weddings or meetings. I saw the commercial kitchen- nice! The staff is friendly & really address anything you need.I get the sense that the owners & management at Sandcastle really want renters to enjoy their time at Sandcastle and are always thinking about providing The Best experience for vacationers.Also, rates are cheaper in the winter & it's a great time to go. Watch the ocean change through out the day & see the beach through the wall to wall windows as you read, play games or watch TV. You get a sense of being outside without getting cold. Many winter days are nice in Port Aransas too. Check out Sandcastle- I know you'll like it! Also, get on the Port Aransas mailing list for all the fun activities: Sandfest, Halloween, Christmas, etc- there are all kinds of weekend events: year round. Go to the park by the Ferry & watch the Porpoise jump in the waves in front of the ships. From the East side, beach view 4 or 5th floors) side of Sandcastle: you can see the ships go thru the channel and it looks like they go through town. So cool!

Atrocious! Room not clean or well stocked. Screaming kid in the next room. 5 similar units available but they wouldn't move me. Had to pay for a second room! Smug staff. Do not recommend.

Unit 337, building a house in front of unit so lots of noise and heavy construction equipment. Elevator next to unit broken. Floors are filthy, you can see foot and shoe prints all over floor. There is a used bar of soap in shower that is melted dripped over shower area. The boardwalk was closed from the side this unit is on. There is a cookie sheet in cabinet with food on it. The cabinets is bathroom and kitchen have stuff spilled on them. Will never stay at Sandcastle again.
