The food is amazing and the service is top notch. Family owned and operated. The restaurant is clean and set up well for dining in. 10/10 would definitely recommend!

So many people have told me that S & J Bakery is a staple in Calallen. You walk in and can tell it is well loved by the community. Ordering takes place at the counter and then you go find a seat. I just ordered to go. I absolutely love their sausage and cheese kolache! It's salty and buttery and I could eat tons of them! The jalapeno sausage kolache is also good; almost a little too salty. Unfortunately I am not a fan of their fruit kolaches. I've had the apple (apple was okay) and blueberry and it has such a strange perfume-like flavor. The sweet dough on both tastes a little like perfume or cleaner. Not pleasant. Prices here are good with savory kolaches about $2.50 each and sweet ones at around $1.75. I will come back for savory goodies but maybe not for the sweets.

The good stuff: As far as the pastries, all the options we got were delicious. The cinnamon rolls, puff pastry with pineapple filling, and cream cheese danish.. amazing! The bad stuff: The "grilled" chicken salad and hamburger were subpar. Please don't advertise a grilled chicken salad if the chicken isn't actually grilled. It was cooked on a flat top. The boiled egg was also crumbled which made it seem like there was no egg at all. Sliced would be much better. The burger was very basic, nothing special about it and they used store bought patties

I visited here one day after searching for a donut shop between downtown and my clients location in Robstown. I had about 15 mins to spare, so this little bakery fit the bill. They have a drive- thru, but it was filled with 8 or so cars, so I went inside to order. Inside were not many customers and only 5 customers waiting in line.According to the Yelp reviews I read before coming, the cinnamon rolls and sausage kolaches seem to be 2 of the most popular items, so I ordered those. There are 2 different styles of kolachee, the logs, and the ball shaped ones, with the former containing thick links and later containing sausage in patty form. I went with the link since I prefer those, and the cashier preferred those as well, even though the balls are supposedly more popular. The kolache really the spot . The bread to meat ratio was awesome since the sausage is so huge. The best part is maybe the bread, wow, it's so fresh compared to an average donut or kolache shop. Come and taste the difference. The cinnamon roll was a nicely sized roll that just melts in your mouth. You can tell it's homemade just by the first bite. I saved it for breakfast the next morning and still held up well.Fast, friendly service, it's easy to see why this is a local favorite and maybe the best kolache shop in south Texas.

What can I say? Their cinnamon rolls and kolaches are amazing. The ladies were very nice and it's a staple in Corpus Christi. I highly recommend it.

Food is always delicious. Best breakfast items and love their daily lunch specials. Everybody is very friendly and helpful, even when you call in your order. Very clean and comfortable atmosphere! Dine in or Drive Thru.

Colaches are best in Texas! Try the jalapeño hogs or the French cream cheese pastry or chocolate cream cheese colache. Service is wonderful, so friendly! My favorite breakfast place in all of Texas, don't come to Corpus without trying it!

Jalapeño hogs are amazing. They also have tasty lunch items on their menu. Very friendly service even when they have a packed house and lots of people to attend to. The new restaurant has plenty of seating areas and is very nicely set up.

A MUST stop when in Corpus for Hogs, Kolaches, and fresh made sweets. If you sleep in, they do a mean lunch! Great people and food. Your taste buds will thank you!!
