This place was the biggest disappointment. They need to rethink their pricing because it is not worth it at all. Our place was disgusting! The floor was filthy, the carpet was covered in black stains, the furniture was covered in stains, we had no internet to watch tv (maintenance couldn't fix it), our sink wouldn't drain, and the dishwasher smelt so bad. They also do a poor job cleaning the pools - the morning we went swimming there was a used tampon laying next to the kids pool. I won't be staying here again.

Believe the bad reviews because they are not exaggerating. This resort is a faded shadow of its former pre-Harvey self.Do yourself a favor and sort the reviews by date so that the most recent may influence you to not make the regretful decision to book a stay there. It's very apparent that the unit owners are waiting for the next hurricane to destroy what Harvey left standing. From the green mold on the exposed pool tiles to the black mold that is apparently concealed within the many coated walls & a/c ducts, neglected decay & disrepair is present throughout. On a positive note, you'll get plenty of exercise walking up & down the stairs because only a single elevator is operable. The lone working elevator stopped working while there, requiring vacationers to carry a wheelchair-bound elderly relative to their 4th floor room. And if you're fortunate to find a rolling luggage cart, the wheels will fail well before you reach your room. There is live entertainment in the form of lifeguards racing down the water slides when they are not also neglecting their responsibilities by talking to each other instead of monitoring the pool. Other entertainment may be had when a stranger opens your room door because the front desk double-occupied the room. At least you can end your day with a lukewarm to cold shower if you mistime it by showering when others have just completed theirs. No bueno!

The place has some potential - but is seriously run down. Pool area is nice but in need of light maintenance. Went for a 4 day day weekend with family (3 separate rooms) room decor varies from 1990 to 2000's stainless steel appliances or white with faded yellow controls. It's a gamble. The restaurant on property is actually just a semi permanent tent attached to the front desk. Food is prepared in a mobile unit behind the port a potties you pass to get to the front desk. Each bedroom has a window facing the common hall with a spotlight outside of it making sure you get plenty of light in your room all night. Check Zillow for the specifics - but apparently the hurricane in 2017 really damaged this place and no repairs have been made due to multiple litigations and liens. They claim to be working on it every day - not a single construction worker was seen. One of the four buildings (the one up front you drive up to) is a completely gutted shell. There is no roof on the third floor. There's mold on all four sides of every building. Roofs are different colors. 1 elevator per building because the others are broken. Ground floor is parking garage where it is constantly raining from what I'm hoping was condensation making the ground floor more of a slip and slide than a parking garage. Location is okay. Has beach access. Depending on luck of the draw you may be in a decent room. But overall this is a holiday inn price range "resort" not worth anywhere near the $600 a night they're charging.

Really disappointed. We've been going to Port A for over 30 years and have stayed at Port Royal a handful of times. We enjoy the beach houses but this year, we wanted to focus on some pool time and the swim up bar. (Noah was great!)It's a good thing the pool was our focus, because that's ALL they have going for them... and it has even gone down hill. The plaster on the bottom of the pool is cracked and peeling in most places. I even cut my foot on it! The big slide is almost never open and the lifeguard's canned response is "it's down for maintenance"Yeah ok The email we received about a week before our arrival stated that it "is disheartening when you first pull up, but that on the other side, there's a thriving resort"Um, no there's not. And speaking of 'resort'... they should stop charging a resort fee. Just stop. It's embarrassing. The furniture in our unit was ok, and I liked that they remodeled the 2nd and 3rd bedrooms that each have queen beds, and have dual sinks and share a toilet and shower. A lot of things were pieced together and had missing crown mounding, broken chairs, broken fixtures, etc. The doors that lead to the balcony (main bedroom, and living room) were so rusted, that you can't turn the knob easily, and if you DO get it to open, you run the risk of not being able to get back inside! We killed about a dozen roaches while we were there, and the floors, counter tops didn't really seem clean. I get it, I truly do. The property is still trying to come back from hurricane Harvey, but that has nothing to do with cleanliness. A couple of locals told me that "insurance just stopped paying" and they're now in litigation. What a shame. We will go somewhere else next year.

What a beautiful place. Checking staff is friendly and helpful. We got two workers to assist my partner with a wheelchair to our unit. They also carried our luggage. Our unit was decorated so nice and it was clean. We had a big balcony with a great view., The pools were clean and had different amenities to please everyone. Volleyball, swimming, waterslides, sprinklers, floor water spouts, hot tubs and a walkway to the beach! Cabanas, tables and chairs with umbrellas are plentiful . They have three bars. You can swim up and order at the bar. Their is a restaurant on site and a store too. They also have a food truck . They had a DJ Saturday night at the pool. Great fun!

We've come here for 20 years. Love the pool, but it's gone down hill. The remodeled rooms are okay. They don't give you enough towels, one elevator is still out, and the lower pool looks green. They still have easy access to the beach and the swim up bar is serving huge drinks. Love that. I was told the one bedrooms are still under litigation so that front end isn't built. Just open air lower and upper floor and the front rooms are not occupied. We're staying in a two bedroom pool view and the room has some flaws. Overall, we've been loyal for so long however in the future we will be staying elsewhere at this price point. Aka The Sunflower or a comparable spot.

Let's start with the good...The pool. It's why you're going to suck it up after reading "the bad" and pay more than you should for a questionable 3 star room. The pool area is what kid dreams are made of and will keep them entertained for hours. It's huge and if your kids are older you can drink and relax and they'll be fine running around. Plus there are lifeguards. And alcohol is right there... so yay! Being it's so big, you have tons of space and seeing that the place is a bit run down and less people are staying here... more space for you in a nice pool area cause it's what they obviously spend their money on maintaining. The beach. The walk over is so convenient and the beach area it leads to isn't too crowded in the early and later hours. Otherwise it's the beach in the summer and you just have to share. The bad...Let's not pretend this place has recovered from the hurricane. Pretty sure it's what they still lean on to validate "progress" being made. The elevators didn't work most of the time we were there, they're stingy as hell on towels, water pools everywhere on the grounds, the restaurant is basically a fancy McDonalds (maybe you like that), and it's not being kept up at all lol. That being said... it's fine. It's dog friendly which is a big plus and being it's not a really nice place I wasn't too concerned my pup or kids could cause noticeable damage lol. We slept decent, the shower was hot, the room was clean, everyone was friendly, really it's just that you pay a lot for a subpar place but yet it keeps the crowd low so it is what it is. Would be stay again... eh... we say no but then they have the best pools lol

We stayed in a two bedroom condo for a full week. Let me start by saying our experience at the pools was the highlight. Everyday they were cleaned perfectly and never too crowded. The facilities needs attention badly. Paint peeling in every building. Walkways are just dirty. Only half of the elevators work. Doors to the condo have a hard time closing. Wooden railings all need to be replaced. Now...the staff was very good. They were attentive and always visible. I would still come back.

The lifeguard team is phenomenal! They were so accommodating and so sweet! The lifeguards Ben, Perl, and Derrick were some of the sweetest and most kind lifeguards i've ever had the pleasure of meeting! So happy they made my stay at the resort a fantastic and amazing experience!

Very friendly staff. It seems the space is in renovation before the summer crowds hit. Clean property. Security guard at the front of property & the gate requiring room key to get from the beach back onto the property helps ease mind of any worries. Lots of different pools with varying depths, 3 hot tubs, swim up bar & slides. Cabanas you have to reserve but they're nice. My complaints are in my particular condo, building 6. Not all of the outlets work, a few throw pillows are torn, not all lights work & some of the blinds are broken. The back patio was abysmal & not conducive to sitting outside. 1 of the 2 showers never got warm, water pressure is mid & when first walking in there was a water puddle on the floor of one of the bedrooms. Decent amount of kitchen utensils to use. All in all, I'd give it another try once things have been tidied up a bit.
