Port Aransas Art Center

We didn't know our rental shared a fenceline with the Art Center. In fact we didn't even know the center existed until we arrived!This place wound up being our favorite thing to visit aside from the beach! The art is expansive, encompassing several mediums (wood, glass, ceramic, canvas, etc). We visited the Art Center three times in three days. The volunteers were refreshingly friendly and when I'm back in Port A this place is tops on my list! Enjoy!

I got off the Port Aransas ferry and headed inland to find a beacon of beauty and "hurricane" hope in the Art Center of Port Aransas. They opened their brand new building right before Hurricane Harvey. Luckily, the building was very well built and they sustained only a small bit of damage and are now fully repaired. Light, open and airy galleries with meeting/classroom spaces, some groups in the community still repairing their own spaces have found the Center a welcome spot for their own meetings. This modern, calm environment is so welcoming, and the art is astonishingly beautiful. Yes, you can buy everything. And you will want to! Art classes, music, art festivals and more are in the works, so check the website for details. There is ample parking. #PortAStrong

There are a lot of gift/souvenir shops in Port Aransas, but if you are looking for something from a local artist, they offer a wide variety of items - including paintings and jewelry at a good range of prices. The workers were very friendly and helpful. I ended up buying a small painting that I look forward to finding the perfect spot for.
