Pollos Asados La Frontera

Food was excellent! Big portions, We ordered the chicken with pinto beans and rice as sides.

WoWzeRZ This place is the REAL DEAL!!!Not Tex-Mex we're talking REAL DEAL MEXICAN FOODMe and Wifey came here on a Wednesday afternoon for some chicken. We have been to Mexico plenty of times and while there we have been to these Chicken Carbone joints and they are usually pretty awesome. So I have to say our expectations were probably pretty high coming in. That being said we were overly impressed with this meal, it was really awesome. The chicken was seasoned to perfection and juicy and delicious. The beans were some of the best we have had rice tasted great. If you combined the rice and beans (which I did) it definitely was a winning combo. 2 out of the 3 salsas were great. We both liked the orange one the best (I believe it was habanero), green salsa next and then the tomato based one was our least favorite not that it was bad but no heat and we both love our spice. But if you can't handle the heat the tomato salsa is the one for you. The meal also came with 10 tortillas that were excellent and I made 5 tacos out of the chicken myself.The lady at the counter was very nice, the portion was perfect for the 2 of us. I would say half a chicken per person is the appropriate size unless you can eat a ton then maybe a whole chicken for you. Not much for ambience it's a simple place with a few outdoor seats but honestly me and Wifey are all about the quality of the food so we didn't really care that it isn't a fancy joint. I will say I personally would prefer to eat there on a nice weather day or take it to go.We were more than satisfied and definitely will be back more than once. I think this spot going to be in our regular rotation when we eat out. Thanks for the wonderful meal and see you guys again soon.

I'm here to settle the great chicken debate for pollo asado in Corpus Christi. Who's better? Is it Pollos Asados La Frontera, or is it El Gallivan Pollero? They're only 4 minutes apart from each other so I went to both restaurants back to back in the same day to find out. The only things Gallivan had going for it in my humble opinion, were the beans, the onion, and the salsa/hot sauce. The onion and the salsa were better at Gallivan, beans are a toss up really. La Frontera's chicken was hands down the best of the two! Marinated and seasoned well, perfectly moist and glistening, easily came off the bone. Gallivan's chicken was actually really dry and some of the pieces were difficult to chew... Gallivan's rice was horrid, totally under seasoned, bland and bad. On the other hand, here the rice was tasty and really well seasoned. La frontera's pepper was better, they use a jalapeño instead of a serrano pepper like Gallivan does. The jalapeño pepper was perfectly grilled, flavorful with still the right amount of bite to it. The onion was way over done, too soft and mushy, needed more bite to it. The salsa was just ok, pretty underwhelming and seriously lacking of some heat. All in all though it was a great meal, much better than Gallivan. Outside seating was pretty decent, they have some wooden tables now they didn't have previously. A 1/2 chicken costs $10 at both spots and you get a lot more for your money at La Frontera!Ignore the other reviews on here because of people's ignorance. Just because a restaurant's employee's don't speak English well, doesn't give you a valid reason to give them a poor rating. And if you take the food to go, be a responsible adult and check your order before you leave.

Ordered the whole chicken meal. Picture shows all that's included, but I didn't get these items. Instead of 12 oz. Of beans I got 8oz. Also only got 5 corn tortillas and 1 salsa. Added 12 oz. Of beans and rice what should have been a total of 24 oz. Was only a 16 oz. Cup. Beware your not getting what you pay for go over your order before you leave. Looks like they are shorting all customers on product based on this transaction.

I found this little gem as I was driving by on my way to work. The smell wafting through the air just made me want to investigate where this was coming from. A little red trailer with friendly staff and the most delicious chicken!! Some restaurants try to sell you grilled chicken but you can tell they made their grilled chicken on a flat top. This restaurant sells grilled chicken at its finest! Grilled to perfection. Onions, jalapeno, rice, charro beans, and salsa on the side. The salsa is worth trying this place out. Three different salsas all equally delicious! The chicken is the star! it is grilled to perfection and not dry. They have other menu items but I cannot seem to try them as I absolutely love their grilled chicken! Go try them. You will not be disappointed. The parking lot is small. So there's that. Try it out anyways!

Great Food at a good price! But if you don't speak Spanish I don't recommend eating here, they will just look at you like your dumb, and after about 2 minutes of the cashier staring unintelligibly I realized no one in the whole "restaurant" "shack" or whatever knows any English

I go here often since it is close to work and the food has always been good. The last 3 time I have gone the quality of the meat in their beef quesadillas has gone down drastically. After the first bad experience I decided to try again, unfortunately the meat didn't get better and they forgot to put cheese in the quesadilla. Again today I tried thinking the no cheese was an isolated incident.... I was wrong. No cheese again today on a beef quesadilla and the meat still not that great Seriously even after telling them to remember the cheese since they forgot it last time. Today will be the last time, 3 strikes and you are out!
