This place is always great! It may qualify as a "hole in the wall", but once you get past what generally comes with that, the food is delicious. Culinary must-tries: -Ask for the flour chips when you sit down. They're a little different from the regular chips, but they're fantastic.-The fajitas are great here. You can't go wrong with this selection.-POETS Burger. The sourdough bun is fantastic. If you like bacon, it's high quality here. Add it!-The Turkey Avocado sandwich is a great option. -the HOMEMADE ranch here is next level and enhances every one of the above. Service: the waitresses here are great! I know a couple of them are the new owners and they're making great changes, slowly but surely. Vibe: I would say the ambiance is something true to what Corpus Christi represents. American, Mexican, and Texan culinary pride smashed together into a restaurant that definitely offers a flavor, in some manner. that takes you home.

The food was pretty good! Had the quail, and that was delicious, highly recommend. The service was also very great. Hosts and servers were very nice. The atmosphere and furniture are very old like. Doesn't feel the cleanest either.

This family restaurant was our choice on a hot windy Tuesday night. Our party of four adults had to scrounge to find a parking place, it was busy. This particular eatery has been operating for many years and tonight we had a 20-minute wait. Always popular with families, we waited and after only a few minutes were shown to our table in the second of four large dining rooms. We ordered our drinks and were given menus and a basket of chips with salsa. The menu covers just about everything! There's Mexican food, salads, steaks, seafood, burgers, sandwiches and a lot of appetizers and drinks. We ordered a ribeye steak, chalupa plate, Mexican plate and a popcorn shrimp salad. We also ordered queso dip as an appetizer. Service was VERY slow. There is a sign near the cash register that says they've lost a lot of waitstaff since the pandemic so "please be patient". We were but it got a little ridiculous. After 40 minutes we still hadn't received our queso dip. Lo and behold, the waitress delivered our entrees and had completely forgotten about the appetizer. She was very apologetic but promised it next time we visited. The food is decent. Not wonderful or spectacular, but filling and inexpensive for the quantity. Not creative either; if you're expecting some new culinary discovery you're not likely to find it here. The decor is in need of a huge makeover too, the old carpets and tables/chairs are mended with duct tape and look tacky and dirty.Total for four entrees, four beers and two teas was $72.65 before tip.

Food plating could have been better. Service is ok. Restaurant needs a remodel bad. It used to be better. Food is okay. Again used to be better.

We went to Poet for the first time last night. The service was not very good. We had two different waitresses. Neither one of them were approachable or friendly. Seemed bothered when we asked a question or asked for something. They looked mad-no smile. We walked out.

I typed Mexican Food near me and this nice little place popped up. The atmosphere is very family friendly. The menu is simple. I was very pleased with my order. The staff was attentive and very polite. I can't wait to go back and try something else on the menu. I did order Chicken strips w/ Broccoli to go from the Kid's menu, but forgot to take a picture. The portion was quite surprising and would satisfy an Adult if needed.

Went for dinner, place was busy. The three ladies have taken ownership and doing a great job. Service is quicker, the place is cleaner and everyone is working harder. The chicken fajitas are not dry anymore. The salsa seems a bit runny not like it was before. Thicker. My food was on spot other than that. My husband was very pleased with his plate. The flour tortillas were not as good as they usually are. Their pies are so so good. Try coconut cream if you haven't. They now charge 3% for credit card transactions. Disappointing to see this.
