This was probably the first Japanese restaurants serving sushi in the CC area. I absolutely love this place. I have fond memories of being there for so many celebrations, lunches, & romantic dinners. The food, service, & ambiance are great. Straight up TRUE Japanese culture. Some complain about the service here but honestly, for some folks, it is just a language & culture barrier. Get over it. U will always have a quality experience here. I missed getting to eat there by 5 minutes last time I was in town 3 years ago. This time I will NOT miss out. I will report back then. I am sad to hear that AT & Takasan are no longer there though. I'm sure their protégés will do well though!

We had a lovely waiter and the food was reasonably priced! Although they were short staffed, the wait was well worth the quality! I ordered a fried Corpus Christi and my husband got the California roll. Both dishes were delicious!

This place has been legendary for its food, service, and ambiance for decades but the elderly owners recently retired so I was not sure if Origami could maintain its quality.I am happy to report the escolar still melts like butter and the tuna is smooth but just firm enough like the butt of a beautiful woman. The green tea is soothing like the song of an ugly one. The mochi has actually improved All honor to Tako-san. We miss you and your wife but the new crew is doing a great job!

Stopped for lunch. Had the Tempura Shrimp and Veg and Bento Box. Both meals were excellent. Excellent service with a very friendly waitress. Very quiet atmosphere with comfortable seating. Give it try. I think you'll enjoy it.

This was recommended by one of my husband's coworkers, so we decided to try it out. The waitresses were friendly, and the menu was simple which I can appreciate. Too many options for me will give me a headache. We got the tempura and miso soup to start. Miso soup was nice and hot, very comforting. The tempura was okay. It wasn't my favorite. The batter was light and airy, but just not crispy enough for my liking. We waited close to an hour for our sushi because there was only one sushi chef, he was also an elderly man so we were understanding about it. We were a little taken aback when my husband's sushi rolls took long though. We had just finished our sashimi, and we waited another half an hour for his rolls. I will say that this is probably the freshest sashimi I have had in TX. It just melts in your mouth, the slices were a little skimpy though. The rolls we got were decent, we thought it was just average, but once again the fish tasted very fresh. Unfortunately, we left here a little less than content, so we had to go get a "second" dinner. It was a nice experience to go here, but I don't think we will be back.

Food is amazing and worth the wait. Service is a bit slow. It's not a fancy place but you get an amazing meal.

Love this place and never disappoints. Most cost efficient sushi in corpus!! Fresh sushi at the quarter of a cost. Only issue was I went with a friend and their plate was brought out 10+ minutes before mine so it was the awkward "you can eat without me" thing.

This is, by far, the best sushi place in Corpus Christi. Origami has been in this little strip mall, next to Toys-R-Us for as long as I can remember. I started coming here in the early 2000's and it has been my go-to place for sushi ever since. The quality of the fish is always superior. The sushi chef behind the counter is a master of his craft. I always sit at the bar if I can because I love to watch him make the sushi up close, it's amazing to watch someone that skilled create the food. This time we got the sushi deluxe for about $20. It has 9 pieces of the chef's choice plus a tuna roll. It was delicious and you don't have to think too hard about what kind of sushi to order. But honestly, everything I've gotten here is just wonderful. Make sure to try the beef broth, delicious! The service is always good. It's a very small and quiet little restaurant. Close seating at the bar and at the tables, so don't be obnoxious (I'm referring to the guy on his phone talking loudly when we went this last time). They are usually closed for a couple of hours during the mid afternoon, so make sure and check their hours before you go. Also, the price you pay is very reasonable for the quality of the sushi. Very affordable. Seriously, it doesn't get much better than this place.
