I am shortly moving to the Corpus Christi area and am in the market for some swanky digs. After a little internet searching Nueces Lofts keeps popping up and I'm intrigued by it's classic building with updated facilities smack in the middle of downtown. I show up at 2 in the afternoon on a very blustery weekday and the office sign says staff will be back at 2:45. I come back at 2:45 and still no one. Over the next 2 days (regular business hours during the week) I try to call 3 times and not a single answer. I have never had an establishment so disinterested in taking my money. Full of fail.

One of the worst choices I made! I loved the floor plan and its super close to work, so I signed the lease and moved in. Well I should've known day one that this was a big mistake-I literally signed the lease, moved some stuff in and already had to call maintenance. I've lived here for less than half my lease term and have had to make 5-6 maintenance calls for BASIC things-air, heat, hot water, fridge. Not that they broke and I needed them fixed-they never worked from day 1 of move in. The maintenance guy is also super nice, but the problem is getting to him. The office has literally been closed more than open in the past 2 months. And the "emergency service"? Come on, what a joke. It's an answering service that's supposed to call Ava the office manager's cell. But guess what? she never takes and or returns the call. So go figure. Maybe my apartment is special, I dunno, but I have not had a great time at all since move in.

If you like incompetent management, mold, loud noise and bugs. The Nueces Lofts is the place for you. Moved in in August. The manger allowed me to sign all the papers, while knowing all along the AC was broken. She actually asked me if I could wait to move my large items in, as the maintenance person painted the walls the wrong color. Bathroom full of mold, trash behind the refrigerator, vents filthy. Poor upkeep one day there was a broken glass of some sort with a yellow substance in the lobby entrance. Was there for 48 hours. My 3 month old puppy picked up a piece of glass in his month. I was in #605 the shower leaked for two weeks. water in the hallway. Do not rent here

I was one of the first tenants to sign a lease agreement. With such a great location and the slow but progressive revitalization of downtown I was impressed to say the least. The Nueces Building, built in 1928, served Corpus Christi through good and bad times. In late 2007 Bill Hoover started the renovation of the deteriorated building and the decision was made the Nueces Building, traditionally offices, will become Nueces Lofts. I followed the project closely, a big advocate of downtown living and revitalization. When Arliss Sheldon took over as property manager he opened lease contracts starting October 2009.Even though, upon first sight, the small 66-unit apartment complex looks to be easily managed, unfortunately this is Mr. Sheldon s first job as an apartment manager. Although the lofts are such a great space to live the downfall ultimately comes to the management. Over my time living in the building I, along with many other residents, have experienced Arliss s lack of knowledge in overall operations. On numerous occasions I have requested maintenance and it has taken several days to repair, or not fixed at all. There were numerous times when electrical plugs would stop working, dishwashers would back up and drains would overflow leaving sewage into the apartment. When this would happen I was given a key to the model apartment where I could shower. This is just skimming the surface.Three months ago, renovation began on All Good Fitness on the first floor of the building. The new gym was offered to residents and nonresidents alike. At the time the door (off the main lobby) was locked during renovation leaving residents that had storage units no access for weeks at a time. Arliss called me to inform me they would be installing HVAC lines through my storage unit. I said no problem just let me know before and I will move my stuff to an adjacent locker. 8am that morning I get a phone call stating that they had broken into my locker and moved my stuff to the adjacent locker, and re-locked it. I had no access to check if this had been done due to the lobby access being locked for a week. When I was finally able to check my locker, Arliss had not locked my unit and a firearm as well as several other items were stolen from my unlocked unit. Over $500 worth of property was stolen due to lack of management oversight. When confronted, Arliss denied any wrongdoing. When my lease expired this past month I turned my key in on the 3rd. I agreed to pay the pro-rated amount. When I went to settle up regarding the deposit a couple weeks later I was told that I turned in the key on the 6th and would have to pay over $200 in fines. Bottom line if you decide to still live here after reading this, document everything. Record conversations that have promises, keep all communication logs and never take anything the management says to hear without having it in writing.Nueces Loft Apartments LP needs to get their act together or this, once successful building, will go down in history as another failed downtown building. And so I ask, Bill Hoover, the ball is in your court, will you let your business fail over mismanagement?

There is a new management team in place, so the service and maintenance issues are a lot better now. Great location. Walking distance to bars, restaurants and Shoreline Drive.
