Nolan's Restaurant

Very clean restaurant. You order at a counter. The service was fast. We got the fried shrimp with fried okra and mashed potatoes and the chicken fried steak with green beans and mashed potatoes. Food was served hot. Vegetables were a little bland, but there is salt and pepper on every table. Highly recommend for a good casual meal out.

Nolan's is a good spot to come to if you want a good meal. Not super fancy, but they will always provide a good meal. Ordered catfish strips, which were delicious but the portion was somewhat small for an order. The potato salad was delicious. The service was excellent and very helpful. Low noise, and somewhat dim. Looking forward to coming by again for a good visit.

Chicken fried steak grossly over cooked. Crust hard as a rock and meat inside burnt black! Terrible yeast roll and fried okra extra greasy. Only reason they got two stars is because the pinto beans were pretty good.

Nolan's is a Corpus institution serving a broad menu of American comfort food that most will find both appealing and appetizing. They have a few locations scattered around the city. They boast that they have the best chicken fried steak in town - wouldn't know because I've never tried it. Their steaks, on the other hand, are pretty good considering their prices. Service is good. Inside is casual, comfortable and quite roomy. Super easy and convenient choice if you're on this side of Corpus.

Food comes out very fast. Shrimp were plump and fried well. Baked potato must have been left over from lunch...it was over cooked... and did not taste good.

Consistently good food and service. It's not fine dining by any means but I can always count on a good, solid, fresh, hot, tasty meal. The menu is limited which I think is a good thing. That way they can concentrate on cooking what they know and do best. I like the chicken fried steak, fried catfish, and the BBQ Poorboys but my favorite is the shrimp plate. The shrimp are fresh not Cisco. They are plump enough to actually bite through without a ton of breading. You know you are eating shrimp. My favorite sides are fried okra and potato salad. Their side salad is wilted some times. For dessert their homemade cake slices are good. They are tall but thin which is fine because they are so rich. With the sad state of shrimp in this town and seafood in general, Nolan's is actually the best there is. If I want excellent, have extra cash, and am up to a road trip, I go to King's Inn.

Grilled chicken breast was pretty bad. Dried out and the pineapple on it probably came from a can? Had a weird taste to it.Not sure if Mashed potatoes were 100% either? Maybe part instant?? Certainly not worth the $15.

Chicken fried steak was nowhere near being the best as described by the establishment. Very very tough. The brisket plate was just a small amount of brisket with an overload of potato salad and some brown looking coleslaw to help make the portion look bigger. The brisket had no flavor at all. Never again for overpriced food.

Very efficient and friendly. Enjoy the quality of their seafood (catfish and shrimp). Mac and cheese is always a must have side too.

The food is consistent and all homemade. I had the Catfish which was delicious. My sides were corn on the cob and French fries. They could maybe give a few more fries but I didn't come out feeling over stuffed. The staff are super nice and helpful. They come and check on you to make sure you have all you need. I'm from San Antonio and go to Nolan's almost every visit I come into town.
