I order food to go at lunch sometime. The service is fast. The food is good. The Mexican Plate is an especially good value. I heard their breakfast tacos are good but haven't tried them yet.

Nena's is back! It's located downtown across from the old Lake Theater (if you're from LJ area you know). The address is 117 N Parking Pl. The phone number is 979-292-8097. I've requested an update but Yelp didn't update it. So until they update you'll have to rely on Google Maps for current correct information on location. They've made a lot of nice updates to the building. They have updated hours also. You'll have to use Google for that as well. The food was great as always. They are famous for their Hippo Taco, given that name because of the girth of the taco I highly recommend them for breakfast! It's been years since I've had anything off the lunch menu, but I'm confident in giving that a as well!

I enjoyed one of the best breakfast tacos I've had in a very long time. I was strolling the square in Lack Jackson and saw a mural of a lady on a building. I'm happy my curiosity was peaked, I stumbled into Nena's Restaurant and the home of the Hippo! I met Nena's granddaughter who told me about the restaurant and her grandmother. They've been in business for 45 years and the place is owned by Nena's daughter.I tried the Hippo...it is HUGE and so damn good. All of the flavors worked and the salsa on top had just the right heat and spice. This place serves up great food and the service is great and friendly.

Staff are always friendly but the food leaves plenty to be desired. The amount of food for what you are being charged is terrible. Their competitors offer much more for the same plate. I've bought two different orders on two different occasions and i will not be returning.

The staff was rough and confrontational we were served cold refrigerated food it's was a dish that more of stew called carne guisado. The place was run down full of flys but we tried to give it a shot that was the first mistake. We ordered two of the guisados a fajita plate and a Gordita for a party of 4. After discovering the guisado was still refrigerator cold and inedible. With two plates of cold slop and the other presumably edible food we decided to leave that when small town madness began. We let the waitress know we would like to leave and didn't agree with the cold food being served. Then the person who seemed to be in charge called the owner "aka her mom" this is where it get good... we are told we need to pay for the the other two items not the cold slop every though they arrived just as we decided to leave and did not get touched because they made it or else the cops are being called. So yeah the cop showed up... I'm sure the call went something like this. Police: yes this is the Clute police department what is your emergency... Owners daughter: hi its me the daughter and heir to a rundown slop bucket serving possibly tainted food not stored in compliance with most municipalities health codes I have a party of four leaving a generous tip to my waitress and waiting leave without paying for the portion of their order that may have been edible please bring guns and hand cuffs quick. Police: Rodger that we will an officer will be onsite in a few. So I talked with the officer it seemed to be gray area of the law we ordered food that was found to be unacceptable and wanted to leave in most of America the customer is usually right especially in terms of winning new customers. Was this to be considered theft the officer was fairly sure it was and we need to pay. I didn't want to test the waters i paid and we left. Thanks alot Nenas just hang a sign outside side letting people know what their in for before hand and clean up a little you know

We tried the new taco stand in Angleton. We spent 39.00 dollars for 6 tacos. The tacos are very large, so you do get your money's worth. But the overall quality, is not so good. The Barbacoa is made excellent, but it's too salty. A shame that they ruin something so good. The tortillas crumble easily, and taste more like your eating a biscuit. The potatoes are not cooked evenly. But the eggs are excellent. The beans are good. Overall a little bit of adjustments and this place will be awesome in a few months.
