We needed somewhere for a drink and a quick bite to eat. The first place we hit was a wine bar, no liquor so we found this place which did not open till 5 or 6 PM. We got a table and they could not make a hot toddy having no honey so we both got Jack and Cokes that were good. We got a small meal with two hamburger sliders. I ate one and she the other, I got mine with just cheese and mayo, hers was as is with onions. The slider was good but greasy so be careful and the fries were good. The wait staff was ok but spent more time focusing on the regulars or people they knew from outside work. There were 2 or 3 inside seating areas and one outside a few feet from the restaurant. The prices were okay for what is was. Just the distraction of regulars who were not eating coming in and wait staff focusing on them was rather annoying. No one was mean or rude per se just off putting. Not sure we will be back for a return visit if in the area.

February 2019 - Mustang Cantina has a decent menu, good cooks, and fine beverages. Service is not good though; it presently lacks a wait staff and a manager who are able to do a minimally acceptable job. Expect chaos and having to be assertive when you walk into this place. When i was there, there were empty tables; it did not appear to be overly busy. There was a table of about 8 in the area near the bar that were finishing up, they were getting a little service. There did not appear to be any waiters working, unbelievably, and it mystifies me why the restaurant cannot simply hire 2 or 3 people to wait tables? I will avoid this place in the future. The overworked bartender mixed drinks, waited tables and bussed half the tables in the joint. The bartender was so busy trying to perform all the jobs that niceties were out of the question. Also, it seemed that she had not received proper training in how to wait tables. Doing her best under impossible circumstances, she joylessly delivered the mixed beverages expeditiously. After we walked in at 7:35 pm on Saturday night, we sat ourselves, mindful of the "Please Seat Yourself" sign. We were not greeted, and felt like we had arrived to a party where we were not welcome. We noticed that a busboy was painstakingly & diligently clearing and wiping one of the 2 free tables in the front room. We were asked at some point by a bartender if we wanted a drink. Since we had no drink list or menu, i ordered a cocktail from my head. After my drink was brought out, my companion who had wanted a drink also, but was not high- spirited enough to invent one in his head and shout it over to the overly occupied bartender, decided to walk across the room and spirit away a drink menu for us to ponder. Natually, we were not brought a food menu in line with the theme of the evening to make us feel like we were an imposition. After our round of cocktails arrived at around 8 pm, I waited awhile to give the bartender a little break from having to pay attention to us. No music was playing, which i thought was more reminiscent of a Lubys or Cracker Barrel or school cafeteria than a stylish, classy establishment. I finally broke down to inquire with the bartender who was rushing around rather frantically whether we could possibly order food. The bartender took our surprise announcement within stride & dutifully presented us with dinner menus. Victory! She returned to take our food orders. The club soda and glass of water that i asked for before did not make it to the table although my dinner partner got his water. A pleasant, smiling woman wearing a hairnet, who sprung from the bowels of the restaurant, brought us a fantastic plate of waffle fries topped with melted cheese, tasty pickles, jalapeno peppers, etc. Suddenly, some very nice music started playing ( Pearl Jam ). We licked the plate clean. Blue Hawaiian and martini were artfully crafted by our bartender. Our entrees came out speedily and fully met our expectations. My water never arrived and dessert was never offered.

If I could give less than one star, I would. I was with a group of six ladies who met at Goliad Market Days for one of our group's birthday. We left the Empresario after waiting at our table for 30 minutes and never even being acknowledged. Little did we know, that this would be the start of an absolutely disappointing and ridiculous "dining" experience. We arrived at Mustang Cantina and were told that there were only two servers and we might have a bit of a wait - maybe 45 minutes total. Fine - we were looking forward to visiting so no big deal. After 30 minutes, our cocktail order (and waters) was taken. Luckily, we ordered an appetizer platter at this time. Another 30 minutes passed, we got our cocktails. By then, we had written out our food order on a piece of paper and gave it to our server. Another 30 minutes passed, our appetizer arrived (yes, 60 minutes after ordering it). Our waters arrived at least an hour and a half after we ordered them. People were leaving from the patio after having sat there well over an hour and not getting their food. Somewhere during this journey we ordered another round of drinks, which took around 30 minutes to arrive. An hour and fifteen minutes after we ordered, our food (except my BLT) arrived. While she went back inside to find mine, everyone else discovered their food was cold (the birthday girl's chicken in her buffalo chicken sandwich was warm enough to eat but was actually raw in the middle when she bit into it). The server came out to tell me that they were actually out of the BLT - seriously?!?! We were definitely good sports about the whole thing until then and informed her that everything was inedible. She comped our meals, but we left after two hours and fifteen minutes, hungry and disgusted! We payed $110 for an appetizer platter, six Mexican martinis (decent but not great), a glass of wine and three beers.....missed most of our shopping time and ate kettle corn for lunch. Absolutely a waste of time and money - disgusting for our birthday get together.

Came to Goliad for monthly Market Day and found this place walking by. It was 11:40 when we entered and there were only two occupied tables in the front room, and two occupied in the back room. The wait staff was friendly and told us to sit anywhere. Starting off, our waitress was attentive, though not well informed. She had to ask what kind of fish is used in the fish tacos and had trouble describing the specialty drinks. Once ordered, or drinks arrived quickly. We tried the quail jalapeno poppers appetizer which also came out very quickly. They were delicious and highly recommended. Our waitress came back for our main order, but we asked for 5 five more minutes as we were still eating the poppers and perusing the menu. By this time it was almost noon. Hungry patrons were streaming in and the wait staff quickly became overwhelmed. As the restaurant filled to capacity, our waitress didn't get back to us for 25 minutes, even though we signaled numerous times for her attention. We sat with the dirty empty plates and drink glasses on our table the whole time. We reordered our 2nd round of drinks at the bar ourselves. Finally, after multiple times of giving us her raised index finger to indicate "just a minute" our waitress took our order for fish tacos and pork sliders. Amazingly, the food arrived very quickly. The kitchen was on top of it, the wait staff was simply overwhelmed by the crowd. The table next to us waited over 15 minutes for their check. Then their table was left uncleaned for over 10 minutes. As for the food- meh. The tacos lacked flavor and the sliders were just average, neither worth the wait. One star for the reasonably priced cocktails and one for the speed of the bar and kitchen- if you can get your order in. Shame on management for not planning adequate staff during the lunch rush, especially on Market Day Saturday. To their credit, all of the harried wait staff remained courteous and apologetic, in spite of their situation.

Tasty beverage selection compliments the varied bar menu. The food choices range from delicious barbecue to ginger and herb shrimp wraps. The grilled chicken on the nachos was superb! All the food was served hot and in a timely manner. Friendly staff of waiters, bartenders and chef are aimed at making your visit a pleasant experience.

Drove to Goliad to check out their market days with my wife. We loved the atmosphere. After spending several hours shopping around the beautiful town , we decided to look for a place to drink and eat. We came across Mustang Cantina. A very beautiful place, but looks are deceiving. We sat down to order drinks, and they were out of three of the beers, we finally settled on what we were going to drink and they had one menu for the whole restaurant, so we had to wait till the table next to us finish ed so we could order. As we were looking at the menu the manager came up to us and let us know what she did and didn't have on the menu, I order wings that come with curly fries and my fries never came. Wife ordered fish tacos then that got changed by the chef to street tacos. A very bad experience . Will never go there again.

I brought my staff for a Christmas party at Mustang Cantina. The cocktails and appetizers were wonderful. The menu selection was well priced and delicious! The special was trout and it was outstanding. The atmosphere was just perfect and there was plenty of space for our group as well as their regular crowd. The service was friendly and efficient. What a jewel in downtown Goliad! I'll definitely be back!! Their manager Priscilla was accommodating and so professional! Kudos to her for all her help!!

Beautiful luxury dining and bar. Historic painting in a beautifully landscaped courtyard, complemented by a beautiful, finely furnished interior. Delicious drinks made by friendly, homey staff, to wash down amazing wings, shrimp tempura, and more! When last call came I was sad to go, but can't wait to return soon!
