Mumphord's Place BBQ

I researched Mumford's Place before moving to Victoria a couple of weeks ago. My plan was to settle in, then order their five-meat combo plate to try everything. My cousin Rocc and I made the trip down from Hobby, and when we arrived at my Aunt Lita's, I was shocked to find half the restaurant already laid out on her stove! Grinning and talking smack as usual, she said, "Well, you know I had to feed you." She'd beat me to it, and I couldn't be happier. What an honor it was to experience some of the most celebrated barbecue in South Texas--this national treasure lives up to every bit of its reputation. I tasted ribs, brisket, sausage, green beans, and potato salad. Though they offer sauce, Texas barbecue rarely needs it--and Mumford's certainly doesn't. Each bite was packed with flavor, perfectly seasoned, and cooked to perfection. This food is so good, you could easily eat it every day, though gluttony is one of the seven deadly sins. Mumford's is a true gem, deserving of all the praise it has received. With such immaculate barbecue, please support this long-standing, family-owned establishment. I highly recommend it.

Just ok. Ribs were kinda dry. Chicken was awesome. Potato salad was just....strange. Tastes like it has a ton of sugar in it. I've never had potato salad like that. It was pretty disgusting to be honest. Their bbq sauce is legit though. Update: it made us super sick. Like all day. It was the only thing we ate that day so I'm sure it was that. My husband had chopped beef and sausage and I had chicken and ribs. So it's strange that both of us got sick off two different things.

This is slap your mamma good BBQ. The parking isn't great, the outside doesn't look great, the inside has a bit of a garage sale feel to it, but the people working there are welcoming, helpful, friendly, and well qualified to be selling BBQ in Texas. Yowsers!I only wish we were in town more than just that one night. I had the brisket which was meaty and tender. I had the ribs which were delicious. I also had the sausage which was perfect on texture and spices. Their sauce was perfect to my liking without being too sweet or trying to be something it isn't.

Food was delicious, staff was friendly and dining there was a pleasant experience filled with memorabilia!

The service is phenomenal, you are greeted upon entry and everyone is very friendly. I ordered a Two Meat Plate and chose brisket and ribs. The ribs are tender and crispy, you barely need the sauce. The sauce is a sweeter bbq sauce but I love it. The brisket was also tender and had great flavor. I chose the potato salad and slaw but next time I will try the greens. The other patrons and my coworkers raved about them. Also, the banana pudding was so delicious, definitely try it! The restroom was clean as was the restaurant. There is a lot of memorabilia throughout. I recommend sitting close to the zapper, as you are close to the coast and it is very humid. I will definitely return if I'm in the area.

Best BBQ in Victoria. I love their chopped beef sandwiches and the BBQ sauce is amazing!!

I worked with Keith Mumphord for several months to cater a family reunion. I live in California and we spoke over the phone and email to get the menu set and get a quote. The event happened and we loved their service and delicious food. We got brisket, chicken, pinto beans, potato salad and tea. He was a pleasure to work with. Hope to get back there again.

Best BBQ in the 361. Prices are reasonable in a time where everyone else is price gouging. The food is legit satisfying and delicious. It's a family atmosphere and you will never regret ordering Mumphords.

I always love walking into this place! The smell is amazing and the food is always consistently great, but to be fair I almost always just buy a couple chopped sandwiches and eat them over a day or two. Their food has a unique flavor that anyone would love.

Worst bbq Ive ever had green beans were over seasoned. "Pinto beans " were baked beans and brisket was like beef jerky. No smoke flavor whatsoever.
