Midway Deer Processing

Background: I've used midway a few years now to take them quartered deer and have them grind and wrap it. This time I took them 40+ lbs of cleaned frozen meat and had them make tamales, breakfast sizzlers, sausage, and grind the rest. Pros: quick, price is reasonable or same in comparison to other meat markets, minimal hassle, legacy of satisfied customers Cons: product is good enough but not amazing/overwhelming and they have a reputation for not giving back the meat you drop off (this stems from claims made years ago where midway now claims all meat is kept separate)Reason for my two stars: I went to pick up my order and they brought out two separate boxes of tamales. The amount was wrong so the guy grabs some from one box and puts them in the other to make the right amount for my order. I tell him that mixing boxes/meat is unacceptable and I wouldn't accept such. He replies by telling me that unless I order 20 dz. tamales then there is no guarantee I would get my meat back. I assure him this was not conveyed when I dropped off. After more discussion and their refusal to understand my reasoning, one guy goes into the freezer and appears with a box with my name on it containing the correct number of tamales. Whether they are mine or not is still to be determined. I took them because I like tamales. They tasted ok (I.e. Not spoiled). I'll likely only use midway for grind and pack services from now on like I used to.

MIDWAY FOR LIFE. I would never trust anyone else dealing with my game. They have processed my meat perfectly for years. My family and I put our full faith in Midway dealing with our hunting profits each year. Keep doing what you do!

My husband and his family have gone here for years and I have adopted the family tradition which is what midway is all about. Very professional and delicious each time!

Midway is amazing!! Their entire staff is attentive and always so willing to go out of their way to help me and my family! My family has been going there since I was a little girl and I grew up on their deer sausage! I would highly recommend this place!

My husband processes his deer here over the last eight years and we have had great experiences each time. They have many seasoning options and styles.We love the summer sausage. Most times, we just get it processed into Italian sausage, half links and half chubs.

MIDWAY WILL SCREW YOU. 1 Star only because -5 is not an option. This year was my first experience with Midway. I took a deer in for processing when I picked up my meat the order was way less than what I ordered and paid for. In fact I weighed it all once I got home on a proper scale. I had ordered several different items, summer sausage, links (with and without jalapeño & cheese), slim Jim's, ground, etc. The ground meat portion was close to what I ordered(only about a half pound short) but every other item came back several pounds shy, and the slim-jims, the most expensive item came back LESS THAN HALF what I ordered. I called them to get it corrected and was given a ridiculous story about how that it is standard to lose 50% in processing. (actually the guy said you lose 10%, til I told him I was 50% short and he quickly changed his story to 50% is standard lose) This moron failed to understand that they add meat not subtract it. Then when I asked to speak to the manager (Trish) she wasn't there, I called for 5 days in a row, everyday being told each time she would be there the next day and never was. The messed up part was when I started telling my buddies who all hunt about it they laughed and said oh yeah, Midway will screw you bad! 5 different people all had almost the exact same response. . I wish I had known before I went there. So I am going to tell everyone I can. Here is a pre-warning, stay away from Midway. If you already went there and have not picked up your deer yet, tell them to put it on the scale and show you the weights when you pick it up. It's time they were held accountable. I've heard good things, but when I went by in late April to have an Axis processed there was a sign on the door saying they were closed until September. Very disappointing.

I've used Midway, for the last 5 or 6 years, for all my deer processing. I recently dropped off an animal to simply be deboned and vacuum sealed, until I had time to use it for sausage. Upon drop off, I instructed the guy to debone, trim out the fat and sinew, cube it and vacuum seal it in 5 or 10 pound bags.I picked it up, yesterday, without looking in the box, to the tune of $130 for 66 pounds of meat. I did question the price because it seemed a bit high, for just deboning, but paid it anyway. When I opened the box, at home, it was easy to see that none of the fat nor sinew had been trimmed off the meat, it was still in very large chunks (not cubed) and every vacuum sealed bag had air in it.I called there to simply explain the issue. First I talked to the woman that rang me up. After a brief talk, she put a guy on the phone (he only identified himself as the one that carried the box of meat to my truck). I went over the same points with him. He told me that maybe I should be more specific in what I wanted done, when I drop off the meat. At this point, I realized that he wouldn't own any responsibility for his product and would rather place the blame on me. I looked at my ticket, and none of my instructions were on it, other than debone.Until yesterday, I was happy with all the work that they'd done for me, but after this guy trying to blame me, for their shotty work, I will not be taking any more of my animals to Midway Deer Processing.

What a great place to take your deer. The guys were extremely friendly and helpful. From start to end, everything was super clean. My order was ready in 2 weeks like they had promised. It was a little pricey, but damn it is all good. The thing that stands out, was after I dropped my deer off, the guy pulled my cooler out of the truck and washed it out for me. That was awesome. Thanks for being such a great operation. Excellent job all!!!
