40 years ago when we lived in the Calallen area we attended Messiah Lutheran. It was located elsewhere in Calallen at the time and we began attending during the planning and ultimate move to where it is now located. We loved the pastor, Glen Noble. The congregants were growing under the Biblical and loving preaching of this pastor's care with wisdom from the Word and God's directions to us that are found there. We felt welcomed and comfortable. Pastor Glen was responsible for breaking the shell I had built around my heart as protection from hurt and pain. He demonstrated Christ's mercy to everyone and we saw the church grow and more and more folks came to know the love, sacrifice, mercy and redemption Jesus Christ our Savior offered us at the cross and through His resurrection. I was one of them. Joy! We have once again returned home to Texas. Pastor Noble is serving Christ elsewhere. In seeking a church home we've looked at church websites, their mission statements, activities, Biblical stand, and reviews. I was saddened to read a very negative review of the church leaders and the ongoing struggle to keep pastors. When the desire for the power of control exceeds the desire to serve as Christ did, it no longer inspires faith or growth in trusting the Lord. People often become fearful of speaking the truth in love to those who have forgotten the purpose of the Church and those who embody it. Of course, there are always those who find and/or manufacture complaints. Our search is not over. God will direct our steps to where we belong. But I am praying for you all at Messiah Lutheran and that you all seek God's will in how you serve Him and one another there. These are difficult times. As brothers and sisters in Christ we need to hold fast to His truths and encourage and lift up one another. Only then will God strengthen us and show us His way.

Messiah Lutheran Church in Corpus Christi, Texas has been my church home for the past 11 years. It is the last of seven Lutheran churches that I have been a member of over the past 74 years and several re-locations, I have found it to be the most friendly, and welcoming church at every level. The people are fantastic! I have seen four pastors, and the church is currently "borrowing" a minister from Bishop, Texas as they search for a new, full-time pastor. If you do not have a church home, I would strongly recommend that you check out Messiah Lutheran Church (LCMS), and see what I mean about the friendly openness, and all they have to offer. Church service is currently held at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday morning; I hope to see you there!

I had previously posted a review on fb, 5 yrs ago that reflected negatively about this church. A church staff member was told to reach out to me and request that I remove the negative review. I refused, but it appears that they dismantled their fb reviews not long after I refused to delete my review. So, my review is now on Yelp as well as google. (The google review was originally posted 5 yrs ago, but after I went in and made edits, it became a new review).I don't take kindly to attempts by certain church members to silence my opinions. Sugarcoating the truth by a few "in control" members does nothing to diminish their reputation of forcing pastors out, who don't bend to their whims. 2 previous pastors were forced to leave while we were members of this church. Certain members are in control of everything from financial decisions to where/how funds are distributed and fundraisers's. One example is the pastor's office. Previous pastor was not allowed to lock his own office or closet. One particular member routinely rifled thru his office and sat in his office with her feet propped up on his desk, conducting business from his office while he was out of it. As well as using his office as storage. They intimidated previous pastors and routinely shuffled certain members on the board as well as elders to those key positions. This church is now trying to bolster their tarnished reputation with certain members posting reviews to make the church appear as though they've made changes and corrected issues. I'd think twice about this church.
