Max’s Cafe

Was in town for some business and the lady at the courthouse recommended we eat a burger at Maxis Café. We found the place OK and there was ample parking. We were seated by ourselves and a waitress came to the table very quickly for our drink order. Within 15 minutes we've given our food order and there was a salad, a burger and a chicken fried steak sandwich that was ordered at our table. Hour and 36 minutes later our food arrived. Multiple tables of people who came in after us received their food first. The bathrooms were absolutely disgusting and the smell of the hallway was putrid. The waitress was nice and the ambience was well, we'll just leave it at South Texas. I would not recommend anyone here or frequent this restaurant and I would not be returning.

If your looking for a good breakfast this is the spot! I had Max's plate which was 2 eggs 2 sausage patties large portion of potatoes and some refried bean. I cleaned up the plate of everything! My wife had 2 breakfast tacos and she enjoyed them! I ordered a pancake as well which was one of the best pancakes ever! The food was good! I will return and recommend anybody with a good appetite! Side note they have fountain sodas!!!

Great burgers and chicken fried steak. Good breakfast tacos, but let me rant for a second. The breakfast tacos used to be the hands down best in the entire state. Absolutely to die for. They would haunt me in my dreams and kiss me gently in my nightmares. About 10 years ago when the ownership changed, they were however reduced to being rather mid. If they were how they used to be, this would be a 6 star review, but as an honest broker of yelp stars, I cannot in good conscience leave more than a four star review. Forgive me lord of this transgression. Yet there is no usurper, the maxes breakfast taco now has abandoned its throne, its crown lay forgotten, our king, dear lord, is absent. What lay before us in this desolate realm my god...

I went off a review and was working near this Cafe the review mentioned they had an amazing hamburger steak I so happen to love hamburger steak so I decided to give it a try and I will say this place has the best hamburger steak I've ever had it set a awesome tone for a Friday ...thank you max cafe for the friendly service and excellent food

Lunch today with a colleague. We both had the hamburger steak, I asked them to hold the mushrooms on mine....It may possibly have been the best hamburger steak I've ever had.....WOW....

We love the food here it is great The Mexican is delicious this is the best place in town there is not a whole lot of options other than gas station food and a Jalisco fabulous food.

Best Mexican food restaurant for miles. Great enchiladas and tacos. Service is pretty darn good as well

Food sucked.. was charged more than what the price was on the menu. Ordered a brisket sandwich and it was questionable that the meat on it was even brisket! Menu said 6-8 dollars was charged 11Fries are very greasy.. left feeling over charged and disgusted with my meal.. not going back!
