They have a great summer program for the kiddos. The souvenirs are affordable and eco-friendly. They also have and educational section showing shells, Indians and fish bones.

We visited the Matagorda Bay Nature Park on a rain free summer day after hearing about its clean beach waters. The area was easy to find. There is a generous parking lot so you don't have to park directly on the sand. There were plenty of others so it wasn't solitary, but it did not feel crowded. Everyone spread out on the beautiful beach. We had a wonderful time. The sunset was absolutely stunning. In the future we may consider this area for camping. They have local accomodations available. I hope you can find this nature park and enjoy your time there. There is lots to do and plenty of restaurants near by.

Um, amazing!!! Wish we could have stayed longer, but we are looking at dates to return! The RV spots are a great size! Perfect distance between sites. Pads are nice. They have two Airstreams they rent out and are in the middle of building condos! They also allow tents. Friendly & accommodating staff. Clean! Located at the mouth of the Colorado River, great fishing. Two green lighted piers to fish from. My husband caught lots of fish every night. Walking distance to the beach, I mean a long walk but do able! Take a wagon. If you drive the beach make sure you have 4wd or you will get stuck! Family friendly park. Lots of families and kids. While your in Matagorda, Stanley's is a gas station where you can get literally everything you forgot and then some. Have breakfast or lunch and coffee at Cassadys! Everything was delicious! We ate there twice! Have dinner at Poco Playa and Waterfront. Shop for fun stuff at Matagorda Outfitters. The only place in town that has cute cup/ car stickers! I could go on and on! This was a great little vacay for my husband and I!

My new favorite beach.. I would never want to go back to Galveston to be quite honest. I love the white sand and the clear-ER water. All areas of the Gulf aren't going to have the clearest water at shore but Matagorda has the most clean shores/water I have seen at a beach in quite some time. There was no seaweed and a beautiful array of seashells that lined the shore. Also there weren't too many people which was awesome From the crowded areas of the seawall at Galveston. I fished right off of the shore and even went in waist deep to cast out. Make sure that you are careful and wear water shoes if you are near the pier because there are some sea catfish and many shells that line the floor. Otherwise a beautiful beach and a great park!

This place was great. We stayed here with our RV for 3 nights last week and were very pleased with it. All the staff and hosts I came across were all very friendly and helpful. The place is very quiet and there is no noise other than pleasant ocean noise, and frogs at night. There was construction going on but it wasn't loud or annoying. The fishing pier was very nice and even had a fish cleaning station with running fresh water. The office has a decent convenience store and they also sell the beach permits inside. The beach had the absolute best seashells I've ever seen on a beach! There were millions and millions of them, and nice ones too. If using the public beach access turn-off before the park, be prepared to have 4x4 because the sand is very loose in many places. There is also a parking lot next to the nature center where you can park and walk to the beach. I feel like the area around Matagorda is still relatively untouched and undeveloped compared to other touristy areas of the coast. Even on the weekend the beach was not very packed at all. On Monday it was practically deserted, which was great! I'm reluctant to post this review because I'd like to keep this spot a secret. It will be my preferred choice in future beach trips.

Took a nice sunset walk along the pier here and it was beautiful. Guy randomly showed up with two camels and took one to the beach and it is kinda my current favorite weird 2020 thing

This isn't the camping and RV park it used to be, the primo spots are now permanent RV's for rent and they've built a bunch of houses they call bungalows that ruin the entire atmosphere of the place. We've been coming here for years but this will be our last stay here.
