Magnolia Cafe & Grill

I was in town for business and on the recommendation of a co-worker came for a late supper. The restaurant wasn't busy at the hour I visited but I am told that it is crowded for breakfast and lunch. The waitress was quick to bring the menus which included an all day brunch menu or a dinner menu. I opted for the dinner menu though there were a lot of tasty looking brunch options. Drinks were quick to follow and calamari was ordered as an appetizer and the chicken piccata was calling my name. We didn't wait long for the calamari which were huge rings fried well with a fantastic marinara dip accompanying. My work partner ordered tortilla soup which looked and smelled wonderful and which he enjoyed. I have had my share of chicken piccata. It's one of my favorite dishes. I have eaten it around the country and across several European countries in well established restaurants. The chicken piccata created here is the absolute best I have ever eaten. The sauce was perfectly thickened with just the right acid levels. Not too many capers. The chicken was moist on the inside and crisp on the outside. Served over house mashed potatoes with grilled asparagus. The serving size was perfect and I was perfectly satisfied with the amount. Let me reiterate. The chicken piccata here is better than I have ever had anywhere. The chef, who we met, is humble and talented. We presented us a tasting of a smoked brisket that he will be serving at another of his restaurants in town. The smoke ring was visible in the slice, the meat was absolutely tender and moist and the flavor explodes. I hope he also decides to offer it at this location too. $35 plus tax and tip for a deliciously cooked meal that I will remember. I will make the drive when I am close to Laredo to eat here again. Everything from service, food, ambiance - Magnolia Cafe & Grill has it. Try it. You'll be pleasantly surprised. I was.

I was really looking forward to eating at Magnolia's Cafe after getting some recommendations from friends. Came here with my wife and my parents to celebrate my mother's birthday. Unfortunately, Magnolia's fell short of my expectations. The brunch at Magnolia's has potential, but the service really let it down. Our server was inattentive to our needs and did not know the menu well. To make matters worse, my wife's order came out completely wrong even though she was very clear about what she wanted. I had the chilaquiles verdes, which were okay but not anything special. Based on the items in the menu, the restaurant seems to not know its identity. is this a Mexican restaurant or American brunch? The overall experience was underwhelming.

Food was delicious. The Magnolia ribeye burrito had great flavor Service was normal, no complaints.Ambience was good.I would definitely recommend this place.

I often travel to Laredo. I couldn't find a good breakfast restaurant. However, the food at Magnolia Cafe is excellent, great atmosphere, good prices, and friendly service. At the Shiloh location ... ask for Freddie ... he is wonderful !!!!

The food was delicious, the service was prompt, and the environment was clean. Do wish there were more options for vegetarians.

I showed up with the fam for a Sunday brunch. Upon arrival we elected to sit in the outside patio area and was holy we did as the weather was perfect(rare occasion in Laredo). The service was quick and friendly. I decided to order up the Chilaquiles Ribeye with a side of Magnolia French Toast as both were highly recommended. Upon the arrival of the chilaquiles I could not get over how massive the portions were. I mean, there was plenty of ribeye on my chilaquiles for two! After snapping a quick photo, I dug into my chilaquiles. The ribeye was cooked to perfection and complimented the salsa really well. The eggs were nice and fluffy and the side of potatoes finished off the meal. Solid!! On to desert.. The French toast looked picture perfect! I wish I could tell you the syrup was homemade but sadly this was the only part of the meal I could critique as the rest of the plate was great! I had to share the French toast as I was completely stuffed!! Go try this place out and try the ribeye chilaquiles. I promise you won't regret it!

Visiting this place from a recommendation of a friend, and I couldn't have been happier with the experience.There was a pretty wide ranging menu available, but I ended up with the street tacos and eating it on the patio.Perfect size for a restaurant, the patio was perfect size for a small group or a couple to have a great meal.The staff could not have been better, everyone was awesome and I'd like to visit there again when I come back to town.

Great location, good food and sensible pricing. Unfortunately their service is consistently slow. Today we sat for over 10 minutes before anyone would come and check on us. She went back inside and never came back out. We waited five more minutes and I proceeded to go inside, requesting for a waiter to take our order. The same person that receive my message walked out three different times, without even making eye contact. That was a bit too much so we got up and left.

Great food and service such a calm atmosphere. Chicken parmesan is so delicious, the tomato sauce so unique. Would recommend!

First time eating there and definitely NOT returning. Extremely disorganized. Waitress kept forgetting items we asked her for like water, napkins, syrup etc. our food took FOREVER to get to our table, and when it did a couple of the items were wrong. My daughters plate took an additional 30min to get served because the other staff kept taking it to other tables. My fam even told her jokingly that she had to be quicker about it. At the end we got comped the latte that my daughter ordered but honestly her whole meal should've been comped. She didn't even enjoy her food by the time it got there. I didn't even enjoy my meal just worrying about my daughter not getting her plate. I wouldn't normally complain but for $100, I'm certainly speaking up. Save yalls money or go somewhere else.
