Lucy Tequilas Mexican Bar & Grill

Given it's Schulenberg location (no offense, but it's a small town), I was surprised that this was so good. Is it "cheap?" No. Not in any sense of the word. But the prices are reasonable and the quality is great. I was served chips and salsa immediately. The chips were warm and thin-but-crispy. I love that. And there were not one but two salsas! One is a rustic red salsa with awkwardly large chunks of onion, served warm. The other was a chilled avacado salsa. Both were very good. The ambiance is just okay, but the service was friendly, helpful and attentive. It's a large menu with most entrees in the $15 to $25 range, including seafood, steak, fajitas, and parrilla/parrillada, including quail. I had the Tia Lucy: a chicken enchilada, a house-made tamale, and an empanada, served with Spanish rice and refried beans. They didn't miss a beat. It was all very tastey, perfectly seasoned, wonderfully textured... what can I say, they nailed it. My only complaint is that their margarita menu focused on novelty margaritas like mango, coconut and a "princess" margarita (whatever that is) and makes it tough to figure out how to order a top shelf or cadillac margarita (even though they have a variety of tequilas listed on the back of the margarita menu). But overall, great job, guys!

Stopped here on a road trip and loved it! Waiter was attentive and efficient. They brought out warm chips and salsa immediately, plus a free queso because it was a weekday. The food was SO delicious. I ordered the rolled beef fajita tacos from the lunch menu and it was a lot of food. Kids plates were plentiful and devoured. I especially liked how the food was not over salted (as many restaurants do). You could taste all the flavors and the rice and refried beans were amazing! P.S. had to take my daughter to the bathroom and the women's was busy so we used the men's bathroom and it was clean and tidy!

Friendly - very attentive staff, hooked me up with chips and 2 salsas plus queso...Sat at the bar and enjoyed a sting house margarita at noon

There must have been a sale on lime green paint cause Lucy's stands out like a beacon. No missing this building. It pops! The color is more varied inside though. Cross the threshold and take a look. In there you'll find decent Mexican food, cold beer, and some down home folks (if your home were in Mexico). The staff is authentic, I only wish their food was as original. I mean the food wasn't bad, it just didn't have the same pop as their outside decor. I guess you could say that it was solid norm. Kind of like McDonald's. You know what you're going to get. Whether you're satisfied when all is said and done, that's the question. In my case the answer was no.Sorry Lucy, no diamonds in my sky.Quick Tip: Though the main course was nothing to rave about, the pre meal chips and salsa were fantastic. I expected the salsa to be chilled and the chips warm. I was pleasantly surprised to find both warm. The salsa aside from being tasty, the temperature actually enhanced its flavor. When you're ordering your second beer ask for more salsa. If nothing else you can pour it over your pedestrian tamales.

I think the food is solid but most the waiters hardly speak English and I can't be too mad about that but I can see the a good 3-4 star restaurant. The place has a very friendly environment for those who know Spanish but if not I wouldn't recommend it. The waiters aren't very friendly.

Fajitas and Green Enchiladas are amazing! Blink and you'll miss this place... don't blink! Seriously one of the best Mexican restaurants I've ever been to. The garlic butter is sooooo good!

5 stars for sure! My family and I stopped by on our way to San Antonio from Houston. We could not have picked a better Mexican restaurant. I had the chicken tortilla soup with a side a rice. The soup was the best I've ever had. It had tons of veggies, shredded chicken, cheese.... My husband had the poblano fajitas. He absolutely loved it. It was a large portion and very filling. My son had 2 soft tacos with chicken. He ate the entire plate. He also had queso and guacamole. The service was fast and friendly. If I lived near by, I'd come eat here all the time.

The word 'authentic' is used and overused in many an establishment, but with Lucy Tequilas - authentic is 200% accurate. We had ourselves a Mexican Feast and everything was outstanding. The food...where do I start? The salsa, queso and large guacamole was huge and full of flavor. Service was good and the ambiance was very relaxing. We found this place on the road between Houston and San Antonio and needed a place on the way. My wife had the Tortilla Soup, which she loved. It looked huge fresh and full of avocado and lots of other goodness. My son loved his tacos and the queso. I had the Poblano Fajita, a mesmerizing bed of sizzling juicy steak, soft flavorful chicken, lots of veggies, and lots and lots of bacon. SO GOOD! I can't recommend this place enough - it will probably go down as our trip favorite restaurant.

Very good meal. Service was attentive and fast. The guacamole appetizer was really good as well as the main course. We will return.

We stop at Lucy' Tequila on our way back home because I read all the reviews and Our experience at Lucy Tequila's was great, the service was awesome I don't recall the name of the guy who was our server but he's amazing in the customer service area, friendly,polite and attentive.. Food was great, Ambiance calmly. I usually don't like the fajitas from any restaurant But I do recommend their fajitas are so good same as their salsa's. Definitely will be back. Thank you
