Luby's

Who hasn't been to Luby's? I've been going to luby's since 1978...ummm yeah in one of the local malls. It was THE spot to be at for meals...fast forward to 2024 and they seem to be a dying breed of restaurant. I still enjoy coming to see the food selection and choose as I go. Had some great catfish today. I was very happy with how the fish was cooked and tasted. Would love to have more soon! The rice was just ok...not very tasty. The service was good, and our waitress came by frequently to check in. Overall it was a good visit, but definitely less frills than other restaurants nearby. It's always fairly quiet here. I like it.

The cashier is stealing the waitresses tips. My dad and I went to this location and this was the second time at two different locations that the cashier was pocketing the waitresses tips, last time me and my dad don't know this was happening. We found out because the waitress we had was so good, my dad wanted to know if she would be getting the whole tip.The waitress explained that we should of gotten cash back, we did not. My dad paid for a roughly a 10 dollar tip + change. He then went to the cashier and asked about it, asking for the change. She pulled the cash out of her pocket with the recipe of our order, my dad asked for the change as well, and she said "I already gave it to you" She had to get the manager to open the cash register, the manager didn't seem interested in the situation and the fact that one of his employees was stealing from another. Lucky my dad asked about the tip to the waitress and we were about to figure out their scheme. The food was good the waitress was the sweetest, and the cashier was a thief.

Delicious homemade tasting food. Great prices with incredible serving sizes. You can't go wrong with anything you pick. Luby's fried fish is scrumptious.

I hadn't been to lubys in years and my cousin was craving it, so we decided to order dinner for pick up. My daughter fell asleep in the car, so I sent my cousin (13) in with my card to grab the food. She said that our order was sitting there and the lady checking everyone out ignored her even after she had helped customers who came after her. So i was a little annoyed by that, but whatever we just wanted to eat and my baby was alseep in the car. Plus I wasnt going to go in and make a scene for what could just be her being an over dramatic teen lol. I ordered the chicken fried steak, which was inedible and looked like it was starting to turn. Ya know, when meat gets that silvery, bluish, green sheen to it? That mac and cheese and broccoli i had on the side were cooked well and really tasty. Usually plaved over cook veggies, but these were on point and the mac and cheese was super creamy.My cousin ordered the bacon cheese steak, which was actually pretty good. She got mac and cheese to, but her mashed potatoes were watery and cold. She also got lemon meringue pie and it had a weird chemical after taste.So i basically wasted $30 to feed two people and we only ate half our meals, if that. We should have just gotten whataburger lol for sure wont be going back.

Thanksgiving order was not anything like it was advertised. Turkey was advertised to be fully cooked and ready to serve. Instead it was 1/2 done and needed to be cooked another hour and a half. Impossible since I have no oven . A ready to eat ham from HEB had to be served. Green beans and yams were not seasoned . Just taken from cans and dumped into pans. Mashed potatoes had chunks of raw potato in them. Yuck. This poor service cost $200 and ruined our Thanksgiving meal. I believe I am due a refund.

A nostalgic little cafeteria. I been eating at Luby's since I was a child and now as a father of three. It's nice to share these memories with my children. The wait staff is usually pretty friendly and quick to make sure you have a full glass of drink and anything else you may need. The prices are usually affordable but in the recent years they seemed to climb a bit. But they have certain days where kids eat free! So that's a plus for me. The food is more than often delicious and cooked just right and has a sort of comfort food feel. From fresh salad to decent size Salisbury steak you can more than likely find something appealing and appetizing.

I used to eat here a couple times a week, because I like the variety, the portions are decent, and the food tastes good. I noticed they added an extra charge for take out which seemed unfair... labor is the same, the styrofoam container cost is about the same as labor to bus the table and wash dishes. Just another profit grab. The waitresses, while helpful, they over do it trying to get a tip from you. The manager never greets anyone coming or going. The manager doesn't pay attention to the business and it shows. I might return if I hear management has changed or this manager improves. And they get rid of the insulting extra charges.

The beautiful friendly voice you hear, asking people their choice for their meals, is Kimberly .What a refreshing friendly and nice person to meet as you are greeted at this Lubys cafeteria. My hats off to this beautiful lady and her attentive mananger who is not far from the front line making sure we are all getting attended to .The lady who waits the tables is also very friendly and the perfect customer service attendant with excellent timing and a beautiful smile, as she ask if she can help you .Best customer service experience at any restaurant in town.

CFS and fried fish are soooo good! Lots of great fresh sides and veggies also. They always have a nice selection of desserts too.

This is the second time we go to lubys in the last month and we don't have a server acknowledge us or even come to the table. The food is great, going thru the food line is awesome. Once we are seated..oh my.. I got up to get my salt n pepper, got up got my own water refills, got my husband some tea, got my own to go box. They had 2 ladies on the floor. Not crazy busy, either, however they clearly do their bussing of tables which takes away from their customer service. No one ever acknowledged us.. Its unfortunate because my husband and I do a really good job of over tipping so today they missed out. Last time we tipped even tho no one came to our table. Today I stood firm, no server. No tip. Maybe a while before we return.
