I can't believe I've never reviewed this place.You literally can't go wrong. I could probably make a meal off of just their appetizers. I've literally never had fried mushrooms at a restaurant that were Portabella. These are to die for but the star of the appetizer menu to me are the fried pickled okra. they are coated in a perfect , cornmeal batter and served with homemade ranch dressing. Now onto the main courses. The burgers are all phenomenal. I have tried three or four of them no matter which one you get, order it Bob's way, which comes with fried onion strings. I usually can't finish a whole burger, but here I make myself finish the burger. No morsel is wasted.I recently tried one of their hotdogs, and I can say it won't be my last. Last but not least, their sides with the burgers cannot be beat. I know it sounds weird to say, but I am not much of a french fry person. Here I want to eat all of them. Their onion rings are equally delicious and their sweet potato chips are unlike anything I've ever gotten of the sweet potato family. Everything is perfectly fried and everything goes good with their homemade ranch.Our girl Wimpy works here and provides the best service to everyone who enters some of us even get a hug when we leave

This was a great find in Lockhart when not craving BBQ from one of the well-known BBQ spots. The service is top notch. Friendly and hospitable. It's a small dive bar with indoor and outdoor seating. They have a good variety of beers on tap and bottles, I think. I only had the ones on tap.The food is great. We had the fried okra (whole pieces) and onion rings, which are delish. Not salty and the batter does not fall off, which is a plus.We also ordered the patty melt, bahn mi burger and boneless wings. We enjoyed them all. Good portions and flavorful. This is our go to in Lockhart when not in a BBQ state of mind.

The service was outstanding! We ordered takeout after running errands. We ordered the Mushroom Swiss burger and the Buffalo Blue burger along with onion rings and a small wedge to share. Oh my the wedge and onion rings were soo good with all the fixins and the Buffalo Blue was spectacular! We will definitely be coming back!

Best wings and service in town! The burgers are fantastic too! They have a great beer selection. The salads are always fresh. They also have great vegetarian options!

We came down from Austin to see a friend play and decided to eat dinner before he started. I had the jalapeno popper burger. Yow, that was good stuff. We were a pretty big crowd in a fairly empty bar. I'd say the bartender handled himself very well. The area outside is intimate for listening to music, but the flies from Smitty's can get a little thick on the rim of your pint glass. Bring a coaster outside to cover your glass and all will be fine.

For a good beer and good burger, this is your place. Service and ambiance are great, small cute little place with good vibes

This is the third time I've been here so that says something. I love the vibe of this place. If you're looking for something that encapsulates small Texas town, Load off is where it's at. Come on the weekends and you'll be in for a treat with wonderful live music. And the food is fantastic! The wings are fantastic and the burgers are cooked perfectly. Came in today because this is where my mom wanted to come for her birthday. We were fortunate to have Dixie as our server and she was amazing. Made sure our cups were always full and our food was to our liking. She is a testament to how seriously their management takes customer service.

The kitchen was so spotless, we assumed they'd stopped serving food, but Hal assured us they were open. We had a delicious burger, brat, chips & queso, and a couple beers. Great spot with great food and great service.

Loved the vibe of this placeHamburger was seriously excellent, as was the fried okra. Cherry on top was the live music on the patio - "Sid Grimes & band". Legit Texas country music in a small town honky tonk - fantastic experience!
