Live Oak Rest Area - Northbound

This is a nice and well maintained rest area, well lit, staffed with security, clean restrooms, ample parking, picnic areas, and pretty landscaping.

The only thing I don't like about this rest stop is the gap between the bathroom stalls. You can easily see the person standing waiting in line... other than that it's a nice place! It's shaded with lots of parking. There's three bathrooms on both sides. There's some cool things inside to look at! It's always very clean too. The vending machine made me laugh! Just one Oreo packed left waiting to be eaten!

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Texas has the best rest areas ever. As a man who travels a lot I know this to be fact. Texas cares about your comfort that's for sure.This place was moderately big. The restrooms were decent size. They smelled great and came fully stocked. The inside area was pretty clean and kept to standard. The outside area was kept maintained and had plenty of eating areas. They're also pet friendly. They only complaint was that they only they didn't have much variety of food or drink. Only 1 snack and drink machine. Wasn't much of a determent for me but they could've added a couple more snack machines for the hungry traveler. Also the restrooms were relatively small but at least their were 2 sets on each side of the inside area.

This rest area is on I-37 on the way from Corpus Christi to San Antonio, on the northbound side of the highway. It is an attractive limestone building, with lots of cool stonework on the inside and outside of the building. The rest stop is air conditioned, with a pair of both women's and men's restrooms, in case one is closed for cleaning. I found that the rest stop is staffed during business hours, but I'm not sure what they were doing in there. There are vending machines selling sodas and snacks. The restrooms were clean, well lit, and the water and soap all worked. There's a big road map on the wall here in case you're lost. Outside the rest stop, there's parking for cars and semi trucks. There are also picnic tables under the shade, and a grassy area to walk the dog or get out and stretch the ol' legs. It's a nice rest stop. It feels safe, and is a convenient way to get out and stretch and run to the restroom. It's not a bad place to stop if you just wanna hop off and back on the freeway.

California doesn't have many rest stops, the only one close (30 miles away) is ALWAYS closed! So an open rest stop is a real treat, nice place to stretch your legs and pee. This rest area is well maintained, the bathrooms were clean & spacious. There were 2 huge women's bathroom & 2 mens bathroom inside. Large grassy area to walk & run around to get the blood pumping.
