3.75 My family and I decided to stop by Leon's BBQ for lunch. We parked on the street close to the entrance. We went in the restaurant and we were greeted by a woman. She asked us if we were picking up an order or dinning there. We told her we were eating there and she told us to sit at a table behind us. I noticed that when we walked in it was kind of small but it worked for us. We grabbed some menus to look at and then sat down. After we sat down the same woman came over and asked us what we wanted to drink. We asked for bottled water. She asked if we wanted ice and we said yes so she brought out the ice in cups and then she brought us our waters. Then she asked us what we wanted to order. We barely had time to look at the menu but we had an idea of what we wanted so we just ordered. I ordered a brisket sandwich and some potato salad. Apparently the meat comes separate from the bread and you make your sandwich. She asked us what kind of bread we wanted. White or wheat and we said white. I assumed we would get our bread first but we got it last. She brought the potato salad first. It was good. It didn't have big potatoes as it seemed more creamy. It had a mustardy flavor which I liked. The brisket was okay. It was a little dry but it was filling. The BBQ sauce was thin but good. Adding it to the brisket gave the meat a little flavor. The bread that they gave us was regular white sandwich bread slices. This came last to our table. We probably waited around 5 minutes for regular white sandwich bread after getting our potato salad and brisket. I tried one of the Riblets. It was small with a lot of fat and very little meat which made it hard to eat. Overall it was an okay experience. The atmosphere is small, the food is decent, and the service was just okay.

Visited this place for the first time for takeout. Apparently they are rebuilding from where a car crashed into the establishment. The place is really small, so I'd suggest getting your food to-go. For $21.50, we got the three meat plate (pic attached)For our meats, we got extra lean brisket (too lean, next time I'll get the Leon cut, ribs (really good) and white meat chicken (enjoyed this as well). For our sides we selected turnip greens (decent) and beans (not a fan). It came with bread and onions and pickles. The lady that took our order was very courteous and helpful. There's an article on the wall in the establishment about Leon the owner (pic attached). I've also attached a pic of the menu. All and all, this is very decent bbq and is very reasonably priced relative to other bbq places and other restaurants in general. Good value. I recommend you give it a try.

The Brisket was good and the barbecue sauce. I didn't care for the sausage or the turkey. I tried the barbecue beans and mac and cheese. I didn't like either one of them.

This is the kind of spot that you really want them to do well on account of being locally-owned, with quaint ambiance, attentive service, and an old-timer owner and pit boss. Unfortunately, the praise ends there and the only good food was the packaged pickles and chips so we really felt compelled to balance out the 4 star reviews that brought us here. We've had incredible barbecue all over Houston, Dallas, Austin, and other states, but this was just not fresh food made with passion. Brisket is tough and flavorless, more like a corned beef... the texture and lack of smoke flavor or crust makes me think it's been pre-cooked and then vacuum-sealed and boiled to bring to temp. It wasn't prime lunch or dinner hour, but our hot sides were served cold and our cole slaw seemed like cabbage fresh outta the plastic. Barbecue never lets me down, so this one hurt.

We're here in Galveston on vacation and when the BBQ place we wanted to try was closed for dinner I looked on Yelp and found Leon's nearby. We ordered their 3 meat dinner (brisket, beef and sausage) and my son ordered their Yard Bird Sandwich. For the sides we ordered green beans and red beans and rice. I picked up my order which was ready in about 35 minutes. The meats were juicy and tasty. The green beans and red beans and rice were also tasty. I just wish there was more of red beans and rice, the container was a little small. When we ordered the Yard Bird sandwich there was no picture on Yelp to see what it looked like. We didn't know it came as 3 pieces of chicken and sandwich bread. Although my son said it was tasty, we probably would have ordered something else if we knew what it looked like. We were expecting maybe a chicken breast and the bread to be more of a bun. We didn't dine inside the restaurant so we can't speak to the ambience. Overall the food delicious.

Leon's was great! We were in town from Utah visiting Galveston. Leon's was very inviting. The owner came out to greet us and they comfortably fed our collective group of 12 quite easily. The meat was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We'll be back next time we head out to Galveston!

*smack!smack!smack!* Absolutely delicious. The meat was juicy and well cooked. I could have eaten a bucket of the beans. The service was fast and the staff were super friendly. This will be my go to place the next time I'm in town.

World's Finest is right! We stumbled upon Leon's during our quest for Texas BBQ. We walked in and were warmly greeted. Once seated, Leon came over to say hello and was quick to answer questions and allowed us to sample a couple of items we weren't sure about. He was a fun and genuine guy to talk to and knows how to ham it up with his guests. Our group ended up ordering the brisket, ribs and turkey. For sides we enjoyed the turnip greens, mac and cheese, rice and beans, BBQ beans, potato salad and coleslaw. Once the food came all you could hear from our table was lip smacking, finger licking, some mmm's and comments like "This is hands down the best BBQ I've ever had", " This is amazing", "This is so good". The meats were melt in your mouth tender. Knives were on the table, but they were not needed. The homemade heated BBQ sauce was incredible. Portion sizes were huge. We left with full bellies and full left over boxes for a later meal. It is a good thing we don't live in Texas, because Leon's would be a regular dining spot if we did and our waistlines could not handle that!
