La Quinta by Wyndham Port Lavaca

I had a really good experience at the La Quinta this week. I stayed 1 night for business. Check in process was easy and the front desk staff were nice. It looked like the first floor was newly remodeled as was my room. The room was big and clean! Always a plus. It is easy to walk to several restaurants and it is surrounded by neighborhoods so you can walk/run around outside. They serve a complimentary breakfast. I had to head out early so I only grabbed a bagel and tea but there looked like a variety of items to choose from. If in the area, I would stay here again.

Bad first impression with the front desk, young lady was just apathetic about working. the lobby looks modern, the rest of the hotel is in need of renovation. Room was clean, minimalistic you can call it but stuck in 2001.The breakfast was pathetic. A waffle maker, 3 kinds of dry cereal, oatmeal and juice or your choices.Also, note just about every review that's 4 stars are better is a yelper's first review...I find that shady.

Update- very frustrated with the staff. I have stayed here every week for almost two months now. The first month I always had first floor since I have a dog. The past month they keep putting me on the 3rd floor which is difficult when you have a pet with you. I would not recommend staying here. Breakfast has also gone downhill since my first review. Oatmeal is always gone by 730 and the hot food is usually gone as wPros- Everyone that works here is very friendly! And the breakfast is pretty good. Eggs, bacon, sausage, waffle, pastries, cereal, etc. Rooms are nice, but you can hear everything outside the room. Dogs are allowed at no extra charge. Pool looks decent but no hot tub. Cons- No phone service in the building and the internet is rarely works! The gym is very bare. No free weights and all the cardio equipment doesn't work. The manager said they have bought new equipment but it wont be here anytime soon. It would be nice if they partnered with a gym for free access like Holiday Inn in Port Lavaca does.

Great staff, very friendly. I've stayed here for a month for work related reasons and it's just so relaxing to come back to super clean room/restroom after a long day at work. Not to mention it's right next door to Walmart

As I write this review I'm watching the throbber (spinning circle) as my internet is constantly trying to load my Netflix show. This has been going on since yesterday. As someone with the need to be able to go to sleep with the TV on in the background, this made for a lousy night of sleep. A warm shower can relax someone. Unfortunately I've had to take my showers cold. I've told the desk, but noone has come yet. This is disappointing to say the least.The elevator was broke last night and this morning. They eventually got that fixed at least.The rooms are pretty nice. The King Suite is huge. So huge that the little 32" TV is 14' away from the foot of the bed.The only positive is the nice people at the desk and maid service was great.However the hotel manager not making sure his guests issues are addressed in a timely manager and the maintenance guy refusing to fix my problem because "he already left for the day" is unacceptable. This place is pretty pricey but you dont get what you pay for at this hotel. Go to another hotel if you can. I was excited to be staying at a La Quinta but not anymore. They can cancel my membership. I'm not staying in another one of their hotels again

The hotel is built right next to a wielding gas supply business. You know the explosive kind. It's right outside the window. If you are sitting on the bed you are closer to the tanks than you are your room door. And they start work at 6:30am. Fork lifts loading trucks with the associated noise (beep, beep back up signals and metal pallets sliding around). I found the young lady at the front desk to be friendly but she had no idea where she was or what was around her. I asked her where the water was and she didn't know. Well there is a huge bridge over the bay less than a mile down the road. Every time I asked her a question she said she did not know anything as she was from Shreveport. We were just passing they and had no idea where to eat or what to do. She was no help. The hotel is clean and new but it did have a mildew smell. My advice would be to drive down to the bay and stay in the also new Holiday Inn express. It's worth the money.

Husband & I wanted to have an extended weekend of celebrating our anniversary and fishing. Although motel is currently being remodeled the rooms are very quiet and very clean. All employees from the minute you walk in are very friendly and helpful. Because they are renovating, there wasn't extra parking for our boat but they let us park on the grass. Very busy time of year but we were able to extend our room for an extra night and although Melissa tried to let us stay in the current room we had to move to the room across the hall since we booked through AARP/Expedia for a lower rate. Moving wasn't a big deal for us and housekeeping was very accommodating to have the room ready for us and told us not to rush to get out of the current room. Will definitely come here again!

La Quinta is great, customer service is good, they have cookies everyday, the breakfast is on point and the staff are great.

Very nicely run motel, and dog friendly! The scenic views from the rooms facing the back are epic!

There were bugs in our first room and a long hair in the bed. They did change our room but I felt like I was constantly looking around for bugs. We were on the first floor and yet the noise and constant yelling and cursing from people in the hallway went uninterrupted by staff. It's not like they didn't hear it. The breakfast provided was pretty uneventful . What they did have, they were out of at 7 AM. Not a good experience overall
