La Quinta by Wyndham Alice

You know it's going to be bad when the best part of the hotel is the chandelier in the lobby. "Abysmal" would be an upgrade for this property. This place is really really bad. Stains on the walls, caked dust on the fixtures, rust in all of the bathroom fixtures. The sink had mold on it, and the toilet was loose from its setting. There was steel wool stuffed in the corners, apparently so that small insects and vermin couldn't get it. I dared not open my mouth in the shower, nor did I brush my teeth with faucet water. The bathroom was just terrible. The only good thing was the AC was quite cold, and that's good, seeing as how heat breeds bacteria, which I'm sure was prevalent in this hotel. You can really tell that the cleaning staff doesn't care at all. I would've gotten a better night's sleep in the front seat of my truck. This hotel should knock itself down and start over. Only saving graces were the cold AC and the friendly front desk. Other than that, a true nightmare of a hotel.

Skip this hotel and try the Hampton. For 150 this hotel is nasty. The hotel and the room have very musty smell. The room had damp carpet from leaking bathroom or bathtub very smelly. No remote to the tv had to ask for one to be brought in and programmed. No phone to call front desk. The jacuzzi tub you pay for in the room will only fill with water and leak in the carpet. The jets do not work and they do not let you know upon booking. The bathtub in the bathroom is pitted with rust. Not to mention both room keys did not work upon arrival. The pool is also empty and closed. They don't even have any decor or anything on the walls but a cheap stand up mirror. This hotel is less than be desired. Stay away.

This place is in a great location, across from Walmart, a minute or two from H-E-B. But then again, with it being such a small town, everything is in a great location.People and staff are friendly but the accommodations were tolerable! Great breakfast selection: sausage, eggs, crockpot surprise, toast, waffles, cereal, muffins, fruit, yogurt and more. With it being almost winter, I never bothered to look at the pool. But they have one and I also passed a business center.The room didn't have blankets in the closet so I had to call for one in the middle of the night when I woke up shivering. I tried to use the room phone but it appears to only be a prop phone. I had to use my cellphone to ring the front desk to request a blanket. Thankfully they didn't keep me waiting too long. Not sure how the bathtub got so bad and rusty. But I just kept my feet straddled on the smooth bottom corners of the tub and tried to ignore it and not look down as I took a shower.With Alice, TX being such a small town, this is probably the best option so I might stay here again if I came back here. Don't know if all the rooms have old tubs but I'll know to request blankets ahead of time.

I liked that it was clean and quite and it was saturday night . The cafe was open incase you need something. I needed sugar. The front desk people were informative and nice. Answered all my questions also so overall it was a nice hotel and i would go back .

*Checked in Sunday evening. 12/23/18 The young lady who checked us in was super sweet. Very polite and professional. The house keeping lady was super sweet also. **The Hotel: Clean and pretty up to date. Very clean exterior and lobby. ***The room: Clean, up to date. Very minor cosmetic things but overall, nice clean and quiet. ****The breakfast was pretty good. Thank you.

Update: when we got to the hotel it was very well kept and the room was nice. I didn't have a problem with the room itself nor did I speak with any of the staff. My husband checked us in and checked out, I'm sure it was because he knew I was already upset about the 3 hours that I went back and forth with the staff about our room. We also had breakfast the next morning which was your standard hotel breakfast. I did love the Texas shaped waffles! Will I return? Probably not. Simply because everything could have been handled better.

Where the heck is the person working at the front desk? I have been waiting for ten minutes. Finally a girl with a tank top comes out and says sorry. This is ridiculous! Too bad this is basically the only hotel in town.

Staff was friendly. Continental breakfast pales in comparison to Holiday Inn Express or Hampton Inn, just up the street. All of the hotels in Alice are temp homes for work crews. I've stayed at the big three in Alice. There are a few reasons for the low rating. I'm won't stay here again. Sorry LaQuinta.

Yeah, I can't believe I paid that much for this room.Where to start.......Don't know how this hotel got a "very good" rating on hotels.com.The outside of the hotel looks like it needs some deparate maintenance.When you walk in the lobby, you are immediately hit with a mildew smell. Don't know if it is coming from the air vents or what.The hallways seem someone nice. Newer elevator.The room had the same mildew smell. There are huge stains on the couch. The recliner chair has one of it's arm pillows ripped off quite a bit. The bathroom has paint peeling off. There is a big stain mark in the tub.Almost everything in the room looks old and outdated.

Staff was courteous n efficient. Rooms were clean n comfortable. We were tired after all night drive n they were very accommodating to us and our pooch.
