Over all a good place to eat! Food is fairly good, restaurant is clean & servers are attentive, efficient & friendly. After my second dining experience during lunch time, I decided it was time to review. I was actually more impressed on my first dining experience when I had the Mini Tacos Plate. I tend to try out the mini tacos or fajitas whenever I try out a new Mexican Food restaurant. On my second visit, I order the Tejas Plate with the Carne Guisada & enchiladas. I substituted the cheese enchiladas for the Chicken Enchiladas. I'm glad I did because the chicken enchiladas were very good with a generous portion of shredded chicken. I also substituted the refried beans for charro beans. Rice & beans were adequately good. The Carne Guisada was fair, gravy was a bit thick, probably too much flour base?? I actually prefer Carne Guisada with more natural juices. Tortillas are homemade, which is always a plus. I usually request my tortillas well done or extra crispy for enhanced flavor! Menu is good, lots to choose from. Eventually I'll be trying out a different menu item soon. That recaps my first review for La Herradura... good food, very good customer service!

The ambiance is strange service is so so. It has been open a few different times. Food is mediocre. Nothing there would make me return.

I recently visited this restaurant as I was passing through following a lengthy overseas trip and longed for great Mexican food. Being of Mexican origin and having lived in South Texas for most of my life, I am no stranger to the essence and components of great Mexican food and flavor. I looked over the menu, which had a very small selection of meatless options. I asked the waitress what type of sauce was used on the cheese enchiladas, and she stated it was a meatless enchilada gravy. I proceeded to kindly ask the waitress to assure with the kitchen staff that it did not consist of meat since neither my family nor I eat meat due to dietary restrictions and I would hate to return the plate due to loss of financial loss for restaurant and my time. She assured me it did not have meat and that I could return it without penalty if it did. I also asked if the beans included in the platter could be substituted with another meatless option without an additional fee she stated they could be subbed with guacamole, I proceeded to order them only to find after I received and examined the plate, that they consisted of the same chili cheese gravy recipe so reminiscent to all of us from school lunch! I returned the plates immediately, and pointed out the chunks of meat to her. When I went to pay the cashier, Maritza, whom was very rude, reported I had to pay the subbed guacamole since I didn't return it, had I known this, I would have returned it also, given the food was subpar and commercial grade preppared... from the chili cheese enchilada gravy to the store bought flour tortillas. The cashier, Maritza, was very rude, did not provide an itemized receipt until after confronted, and I was almost out the door.Observation:Poor service.Wait staff not knowledgeable of their menu and/or dietary restrictions.
