La Hacienda Mexican Cafe

This is my 2nd review now and it they just keep getting better!!! I see a few reviews on here saying "won't be returning" which is CRAZY to me. You won't give a family owned business another chance but you'll give McDonalds, Taco Bell, & ect a million second chances? There is a reason this place has been in business for nearly 20 years & it's because it's simply AMAZING. Now for my review I recently dined at this Mexican restaurant(as I do very often) , and it was truly exceptional! The food deserves a 1000/10--each dish is bursting with incredible flavors. Our servers are ALWAYS attentive and kind, providing excellent service throughout our meal. The freshness of the ingredients consistently exceeds our expectations. Not to mention they serve the best margaritas in town, and the queso is out of this world! I can't recommend this place enough! This will forever be our Friday Night Fav!!!

La Hacienda was within easy walking distance from our hotel, so we decided to try it for lunch on our next to last day in Victoria. Service was prompt, and we ordered a chile relleno stuffed with fajita beef, and a taco salad topped with ground beef. A single beer (Tecate) complemented the food order, which came to $36.42 plus tip. Both servings were generously sized, and both dishes were tasty, the ingredients in the salad being visibly fresh (no wilted lettuce here). After finishing a first round of chips, our server brought us a second round without prompting. Both sauces were good, the salsa having a nice kick that we very much enjoyed.So, a good meal, and when back in Victoria we look forward to dining here again.

If possible I wouldn't give them any stars.Let's start with the food. The green salsa was good but that's where it stops. I had the shrimp fajitas which I suffered for that night. Very close to having to go to the hospital. Never saw shrimp looking like that. My wife said they were canned shrimp. Beans and rice were cold. The service was beyond terrible. The waiter never said a word. Took our order, brought the food and never saw him tell I asked for the check. Never once asked if we needed anything. Of course he got the deserving tip of zero. The margarita was so frozen that you couldn't get it through the straw. Ordered a top shelf to help soften the frozen one and it was not a top shelf. Learned a valuable lesson. There is a reason why there are only 4 cars in the parking lot on a Saturday night.

We went Friday night, and it was busy. I'm hoping they were understaffed because we waited for everything. Five minutes to be seated (we were the only ones waiting) 15 minutes before a waitress came, etc.We ordered a small quesadilla (chicken fajita). A chicken fajita came to the table, we sent it back for a quesadilla. We also ordered 2 draft beers. Chips were served with salsa and a green sauce with absolutely no taste. The quesadilla was really good. Filled with chicken. When the bill came, of course we were charged for fajitas ($17.50 vs $12 for a small quesadilla) so had waitress switch it out for a quesadilla, of course again we were charged incorrectly, this time for a large quesadilla. After everything was over we were charged correctly, but there is about a 3% service charge (for using a credit card). I wish we had a better experience, as we enjoyed the food. Service sucked. We felt ignored and exploited. Still left more than 20% tip as I believe they were understaffed, and seemed to be working hard.

The food was okay. The margaritas were terrible. I tried frozen house and top shelf on the rocks. I was trying to make it work. The service was unfriendly and just rude. I would not recommend.

Excellent food as always! Food was very fresh! Very fast service. Courteous waiter.

Great visit for us! The waiter was very friendly. Complimentary chips came with 2 salsas and this might be the first time I've ever preferred the green salsa. Both were tasty. I ordered the enchiladas a la playa to share with a friend. The chicken was wrapped in a corn tortilla, and everything was covered in a tasty tarasca sauce. The beans and rice sides were also spot on. Only complaint is that the chicken in the enchiladas was a little dry, but the sauce helps with that. Left feeling a little too stuffed but very satisfied. Great flavors and I would order the same thing again if I were to return.

Food was amazing, the service was great. Everything was brought out so quick and fresh.

I usually get the same item once a month. I always tell them, NO SOUR CREAM. Today they added the sour cream & my food just rolled into it making most of it inedible for me. The red sauce was also sour. Needless to say, I will not be returning anytime in the near future.

We used to like to come here until the last couple times where the carne asada was just too greasy. I don't know if they just poured the whole oil the onion was cooking in onto the meat, but man, our meat was swimming in grease ... we practically had to use the whole napkin tray to wipe off the corn tortilla because the grease was sleeping through the tortilla ... Anyways, we just hope that they fix that greasy issue
