La Fresa Homemade Ice Cream & More

After a long day of soccer tournaments at Magee Beach, the fam and I wanted a sweet treat to beat the heat. Sally sold sea shells by the sea shore...Ok sorry, I got carried away there...The wife Googled an ice cream shop and La Fresa popped up. So we hopped in the car and drove over. We arrived right before closing time with all of my daughter's soccer team. The outside looked kind of rough, and the surrounding neighborhood looked a little sketch. We did not let that stop us from walking in. Don't let that deter you. We walked in, and the line was to the door. Definitely a good sign. Looking around the decor was dated, but festive. A menu hung on the wall with many different tasty treats. It was exactly what I expected of a mom and pop shop. Tables were limited, so I was hoping to have a seat. We stepped up to the counter and perused the menu. My kiddos ordered a scoop of their desired flavor, while the wife and I ordered a banana split to share. It had been quite a minute since I have had a good banana split. We ordered it with the traditional flavors of vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry. Also got the nuts, whipped cream, cherry, the works. We paid our fee, snagged a table, and got to work on it. The line continued to grow, so we were lucky to snag a spot. It was absolutely delicious. The vanilla was not your traditional vanilla, but was a Mexican vanilla. I'm generally not a fan of it due to the cinnamon like taste, but I was digging it. It all was very delicious, and very creamy. We loved everything about it. The kiddos loved theirs as well. Very delicious. While we were eating our ice cream one of the vagrants from outside walked in. This fella was bold and started begging everyone in line all the way up to the cash register. Very bold on his part. We were sort of surprised the establishment did not run him out of there. Hopefully next time they do. Nonetheless, this did not take anything away from this place. Definitely worth the trip. The desserts were delicious, and the time with my family was memorable. It put a cherry on top of a ready great trip to Corpus Christi. Highly recommend this place. We will be back the next time we come to Corpus. Enjoy!

La Fresa is hands down one of the best ice cream spots in Corpus Christi! The ice cream is fresh and full of flavor, which you can customize with fresh fruit... I absolutely love that they offer paletas!! It's the perfect mix of sweet and refreshing, especially on a hot day. The staff is so friendly and welcoming, which really adds to the experience. There's plenty of parking, so you never have to worry about finding a spot. Every time I go, it reminds me of getting ice cream back in Costa Rica--so delicious and decadent!! I feel so lucky to have a place like La Fresa right here in Corpus. Highly recommend it for anyone looking for a tasty treat and a great vibe! Thank you!

The aguas frescas! Loved them! We had four different, pineapple, horchata, coconut and watermelon, and a mangonada! Can't wait to go back!

I wish everyone in Corpus would go try this place. They have a wide selection of unique ice cream flavors, plus any paleta you could ever want. The pricing is really great for how much you get, too.

Great little and local ice cream shop. They have some fun flavors and the service was excellent. Definitely worth stopping in on a warm Texas evening.

Ice cream is homemade. I got the chocolate milkshake, limon agua fresca, strawberries and crème ice cream popsicle, and the crazy cucumber. I forgot the picture from the crazy cucumber but it was delicious. Everything was so good. The ladies behind the stand were so friendly and helpful. They also shared samples of different ice creams. The seating area was well decorated and enough seating for many visitors.

Hands down the BEST ice cream I have ever tasted before. I tried the tres leches ice cream and came back the next day to have the cookies and cream. They definitely use quality ingredients in their recipe. The elote (corn) was also rich and flavorful. They have a diverse menu with lots of great options!

Clean and Professional establishment. Great variety of treats and sweets. Love the atmosphere and open late at night.

Very yummy! We got a watermelon paleta, a couple scoops of rocky road, and a hot Cheetos with cheese. All was delicious and a great place that we will revisit!
