Kate's Coffee, Tea & More

Not sure if I would call this a coffee shop with great food, or a restaurant with great coffee! I ordered a breakfast bowl with egg, sausage, cheese and spinach, and it was excellent! The eggs were nice and fluffy and the sausage was really flavorful. It came with a side of salsa that added a nice touch of heat to the dish. The service was great! The lady who took my order was friendly and helpful, and she seemed to really enjoy her job. The restaurant itself has a very welcoming vibe. There are two large table in the center of the room and a seating area at the front window that is a pleasant place to sit and watch the world go by as you enjoy your meal. Kate's is a fantastic spot to run in and out for a cup of coffee, or a nice place to sit and read the paper while enjoying an excellent breakfast!

I've gotten a lot of mixed-up drinks when I go. I've been there about five times, and three out of those five times, they gave me the wrong drink. The customer service could be better, as sometimes the employees are a little bit snappy.

Downtown location is convenient! Several tables and seats inside to pick. I ordered the breakfast scramble with bacon that was a massive serving. Coffee was good and from the people watching it's popular in town. Lots of folks coming and going getting their daily fix :)

Super disappointed in this coffee shop.I went by the Starbucks which we went by to go for the local coffee shop experience. This place didn't even smell like coffee, it smelt like old stinky building.No friendly greeting from either worker.No decaf and my order which was a regular coffee and a fancy drink took over 15 minutes. They were not swamped.They poured my dark roast out and left it sit in back while she proceeded to spray every counter with cleaning fluid enclosing right by my cups. When I ask her about it she said she had them covered..... yes with the lids we are suppose to drink out of. (Glad they are wiping stuff down but spraying around all the food and drinks so not healthy)As she was waiting for the coffee for the speciality drink she proceed to pull her mask down and rub her face and the talk to the other lady over my drink cups about not taking Tylenol.Throwing my coffee away!

Really good sandwiches and coffee. Nice cozy and relaxing atmosphere. Great place to grab lunch.

Really great coffee! We are here from out of town visiting and come through to fish Matagorda bay as often as we can. These folks take care of their customers. Coffee was freshly pressed and made to order, friendly staff. Super cute spot w an elevated, clean, and accommodating vibe. We will be back. Support local business, folks!

Found this gem while staying in Bay City for a work trip. The staff was so welcoming and accommodating. I had ordered a iced vanilla latte and a Belgium waffle with strawberries. I didn't know that they made their waffle batter from scratch made-to-order. I was running out of time and didn't know if I could afford to wait any longer, an employee graciously offer to make French toast for me instead! The latte and the French toast were delicious!!! I'm sure the waffle would have been delightful as well Next time I'm in town, I will make sure to come earlier to have less of a time constraint! Kate's Coffee is always fresh, and has great customer service! I am lactose intolerant, and they have multiple options for customers who cannot have milk. The one time my order was wrong, I didn't realize it until I was already back home. I called, and the manager apologized and delivered a new coffee right to my front door! They're a great team, and I would rather give Kate's my money than feed the corporate monster.

Went in on a Saturday morning, hoping to support local instead of Starbucks. The girl at the counter was obviously overwhelmed, and kept answering the phone and instead of putting the phone on hold, kept telling everyone in line to wait. She took 5 phone orders and the family in front of us decided to leave because they weren't able to order. We ordered, and got our drinks 30 minutes later because she forgot to write our order on the cups. A family that came in 10 minutes after us got their full food and drinks before we got our drinks. we ordered a strawberry boba, and it came out with creamer and coffee or something off in it, because it was terrible. Our frappe and latte were good, so that's good! Wouldn't go back. Too disorganized for me!

This place is better than Starbucks! From the moment you walk in it gives off the vibe that you could sit, drink coffee, and read. They are always incredibly friendly and the orders come out fast. If you prefer cold drinks a boba or Perfect Iced Coffee is great! If you prefer a hot drink I recommend the lattes and the herbal teas! My personal favorite is a strawberry matcha latte, it is creamy and very sweet.
