Doesn't look like much in this small town of Bracketville... but it was time to stop for a breakfast taco on our road trip. Julie's had a drive through but I also needed a rest stop so we had to go in. Our visit didn't start well. No TP. No extra TP in men's room. Tables are right outside the restroom so feeling uncomfortable here having to ask for TP... all while doing that "potty dance", Lol. There were two people in the restaurant. One in the kitchen and one working in the front who also spent some time in back. Small family restaurant so expect a long wait. Yes it's slow, yet remember it all made to order. Even our breakfast tacos... made to order. No pre cooked eggs and sausage on a steam table. Our $2.99 taco was big. It was good enough. We ended up getting it to go because of the "wait"... *I read the review about homemade burger buns, that sounds intriguing.* wish we would have had chips and salsa during our wait, others reviews said they were good.

If you're not eating here, what are you doing?? It was my first time eating here and I absolutely love it. The lady serving us was really friendly, and the vibe of the inside of the restaurant felt nice and homey. Food was nice and hot when it was served to us, and on top of that it was delicious. I got the Mexican plate dish, and it was so yummy. The sweet tea I got was delicious too, I'd recommend it. Will be coming back ^^

My kayaking adventure companions and I stopped here after passing by on several well reviewed businesses in nearby Del Rio. Our driver was unwilling to turn around for a four star taco joint, so I used the Yelp app to look up restaurants in the next town, Bracketville, and found Julie's. There were only two other restaurants listed, a chicken joint with two stars and a third with no reviews. Julie's sounded promising.Four other tables seated ahead of us when we walk in and my friend says "did you notice no one else has any food? Folks, we are not off to a good start. Service issues continued. The chips and salsa were very good, the chips fried right on site. However, for a table of six, we weren't given very many at all. After finishing our allotment, I asked for more. They never came. Before anyone's plate came out we were informed that they had ran out of rice. Everyone substituted for corn and no one was bothered by this, but you'd think you would make sure you have enough rice as a Mexican restaurant. When the food did come out, it was very staggered. Several of us had to wait quite a while on our food before we were all served. I got 13 fries with my catfish basket. 13. So few that I counted. All of the above aside, the food itself is actually really enjoyable. Everyone cleaned their plate, and no one was dissatisfied with the quality, flavor, etc. of their dishes. We could easily see that the entire kitchen was manned by one person, ostensibly our waitress's mother. The entire restaurant seemed to be staffed by just these two until closer to the end of our meal when a second daughter showed up to work on dishes. The waitress actually apologized about the food timing and explained that they have only one fryer for the entire place. I can't give it more than two stars because that is honestly what they earned, but Julie and family definitely gave it their all. It just looks as if they are easily overwhelmed when a decent amount of tables show up, which as a business you hope happens every dinner, I assume.

Doesn't look like much when you drive past but the food is definitely worth stopping for. Popped in for some gorditas and tacos and they did not disappoint. Everything seems to be made in house so the freshness and taste is amazing. Highly recommend the gorditas. The rice and beans are also some of the best I've had in Val Verde County. If you're passing through Bracketville, this is a must visit!

If you haven't stopped by Julie's Place, I tell you what. You are missing out on really good Mexican food. I myself had a homemade hamburger. Their buns are made at the restaurant, along with their homemade patties. Simply delicious!!
