This local Mexican restaurant has been around for decades and it's a popular place for locals and visitors alike, since it's on the main road and on the way to South Padre Island. We decided to give it a try on a Friday since now they are open Thursday and Friday until 8p.m. instead of closing at 4p.m. I got the entomatadas plate with rice and beans and the overall flavor was pretty good. My husband got the fish plate that comes with salad and French fries. Depending on how much fish they have on any given day, they have an all you can eat fish deal. Our server Erika was friendly and helpful. Julia the owner was around and took a few minutes to talk to us. We went pretty early, 4p.m., so there weren't that many people there but as we were leaving, more people were starting to come in. The atmosphere is somewhat quiet and everything looked clean. Too bad they don't currently have a liquor license and they ran out of flan, which I wanted to try.

My wife and I each ordered a chicken enchilada, a chicken entomatada, and a chicken enmolada. If you prefer a mole sauce, I'd recommend the chicken enmolada. If you order a tomato sauce, go with the entomatada. The chicken enchiladas were excellent. The chicken entomatadas were outstanding, even better than the enchiladas. My favorite, though, was the chicken enmoladas. My wife preferred the chicken entomatadas. I can see why Julia's is famous for their enchiladas.

I'm originally from South Texas living in the Midwest. We were looking for delicious authentic Tex Mex food while visiting SPI. This place was incredible!We ordered a variety of dishes. The chili cheese enchiladas, carne guisada and tacos were spot on. The flour tortillas were homemade and the salsa they served with chips was outstanding. Service was great and very clean. 100% recommend.
