Island Villas Apartments

I have lived here for about 4 years now and I love it here. We have gone through a few changes in management and the newest management team is the best. Never have I ever had a maintenance issue that wasn't taken care off. As for roaches, I have seen a couple in the time I have lived, but the office always had the exterminator in when I informed them. Our gates are working great, they have upgraded the pool area, and remodeled our gym. They are constantly looking for ways to make this a great place to live. The office staff is helpful, respectful and responsive to any questions or complaints.Please don't judge by old reviews if you are looking for a place to live this is it!

I moved in on one of their "move in specials" on the phone I asked the girl how much would it be to move in total and I was told $490 and to get a money order. When I went into the office they took my money gram or order. And I started signing paperwork before I was done. She told me out of nowhere that I would have to pay another $500 that day. I was surprised because that was not what she told me on the phone so I had to go back and get another money order of $500. I asked for an apartment with wood floors when I walked in after signing all my paperwork. It was all carpet, and there was white dog hair in the carpet. About a month in I had to go back in to the office and sign a new rental agreement stating that I had to pay $20 more a month for some random fee. There is dog poop everywhere! And ppl from the front office will just walk into your apartment without any warning!

If I could give ISLAND VILLA no stars, I would. Ever since new management has taken over, this property has gone to hell. Its supposed to be a gated community but, the gates have been open for almost a month. People that dont live here are using it to dump their trash and furniture (mattresses!)Ppl have been at the pool, throwing party's (that don't live here!!)THE POLICE were called twice because of the drunken pool parties!!Maintenance, what is what!?Air-conditioners are out!! It is hot, we need our AIR CONDITIONERS YESRTERDAY!! For all the money we pay, WE DESERVE BETTER!!GET IT TOGETHER@! ISLAND VILLA!!

I do not recommend living in Island Villa. While the office staff was very friendly and helpful during my experiences, the condition in which I found my apartment was beyond unacceptable to the point of dangerous. While I did make the mistake of signing a lease site unseen, that was still no excuse for the condition of the unit when I first inspected it.Upon walking up the stairs to the unit, I noticed the disrepair of the exterior: sidewalks that hadn't been cleaned in months, cigarette butts littered around, paint peeling off the stairway banisters, and fire sprinklers completely rusted over. The front door of my unit was not much better; the door handle was also rusty. Rather than a number placard like every other door, mine simply had the apartment number written on with a sharpie. I entered the apartment and began a thorough inspection of the living room and dining room. In the living room, the hardwood floors were scratched and the crown molding was separating from the ceiling. I opened the air vent to check the air filter and had dust shower over me onto the floor. In the kitchen, every surface - horizontal and vertical - was covered in an oily film that I can only assume was residue from something they used to attempt to clean. The cabinets were all scratched and dirty, and one had a hole in it. The burners on the stove were warped. Next, checked the balcony. The door leading to it did not close properly. When pulled shut, it began to swing open again, resting with a solid centimeter of open space between the door and the frame. The bolt itself took a fair amount of work to operate properly. Like the stairways leading up to the unit, all the metalwork on the balcony was in poor condition with rust and peeling paint.In the master bedroom, the floors were scuffed even worse than the living room. They were also warped and separating. Pet hair was caught in the corners. The blinds were also broken, and paint had been dripped onto the floor.The bathroom was a little better; the cabinets were only slightly scratched. However, when I tested the bathtub to see if it would hold water, I discovered half of the water did not even make it into the tub. The faucet did not extend far enough to clear the hardware beneath it, thus splashing back out onto the side.Last, I inspected the locks smoke detectors. The front door had three locks: one on the doorknob, a deadbolt that could be unlocked by a key from the outside, and a deadbolt that could only be operated from the inside. All three locks were operational from the inside, but the keyed deadbolt was inoperable from the outside. Finally, I inspected the smoke detectors. The unit had two: one in the living room and one in the master bedroom. Upon pushing the test button, neither one made any sound. I attempted to check the batteries by both pulling open the battery tray and unscrewing the detector from the ceiling, but was unable. It seemed as if they had been glued shut.When I made the staff aware of the exact condition of my unit, they made it very easy for me to terminate my lease and refunded me my deposit, administration fee, and prorated rent that I had already paid. The representative I spoke to claimed to have been present when the maintenance team had prepared the apartment for move in, but there were many minor and major discrepancies that went unnoticed. Based on the condition of the apartment exterior, I cannot assume they actively maintain anything or adequately inspect what they do maintain. Therefore, I can only give Island Villa Apartments a One Star review and strongly recommend that anybody looking to rent an apartment in Corpus Christi, Texas look somewhere else.

The office staff is amazing. They have helped me so much. I don't know why people are talking bad on these reviews. I guess you can't please everyone !

Don't do it. This place is so ghetto. Bug central. None of the floors were sealed in my apt so when I would cook roaches would come from the cracks. So disgusting. Even outside. There were so many fleas, your dog could be freshly dipped and be infested after one walk. It's truly ridiculous. Walls are so thin you can hear everything and everyone. People fighting and being obnoxious. Good luck going to the pool. It's full of kids and no parents to watch them. When people don't abide by the rules they just close everything so no one can use any of the amenities. You get constant text for the whole community instead of them handling things directly. My ac was always breaking and electric bill $350 a month! I'm assuming it needs a whole new unit because I couldn't get my ac lower than 76. I moved a few months ago and my electric bill is only $95 a month and I keep it on 71 soooooo. Also they kept trying to get me to stay after giving them my notice. I told them the only way I would even consider staying is if they lowered my rent because it's not worth what I was getting. So when I moved out they put the reason as "financial problems". Literally so ridiculous and far from the truth. I now have a beautiful apartment for the same price with lovely amenities on the water. It actually comes out cheaper since I don't have an insane electric bill anymore. So don't waste you life, time and money living at these horrible apartments. I promise you'll regret it. I wish I could give a zero star.

The whole year I lived here was horrible! Upon my move in check list pointed out a LOT of things that needed to be fixed but never did. Charging way to much for rent and a 1 bed 1 bath apartment. Was for sure not a gated community like I thought it was, gates always open for anyone to roll in late at night had car break ins every other night. Not a safe place to live, police came at least twice a week. Then when this new management took over is when everything started to go down hill. They raised my rent over $300 to cover the "improvements" that they did which in my opinion didn't make a damn difference. THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE!! DO NOT LOVE HERE BY ANY MEANS POSSIBLE!

Reading the other reviews should just tell you how awful this place is. I'm not the type of person to give reviews but this is MUCH NEEDED. You're better off staying at the red roof across the street compared to here. No one here wants to help you with your issues unless you talk to upper management even at that you're still waiting for them to help out. The staff always has an ugly attitude like you're always bothering them. There is no communication at all.I wish I could give this place no stars because it isn't even worth the one star. Don't spend your hard earned money here, your living experience will be horrible.

Do..... Not.... Live.... Here... I moved in with mold in some parts. Ac doesnt work well. They claim they "fixed" it. But my Ac bill still comes up to be almost $200 for a 1 bedroom and having it on 75-76 degrees. Takes hours for it to even to get down to 70 at night. There was a bad leak in my laundry room and kitchen. Mold is growing everywhere and the ceiling is about to fall. They said the leak is AC related. Soooooo they didnt really "fix" it to be begin with. I keep telling them the ac doesnt work well and there response is "well it is an old building"..... once the ac leak was fixed. A couple of days have gone by and the mold hasnt been cleaned.... the ceiling hasnt been fixed....

Been over a year and still haven't given me my refund. These people are scam artists.
