Hardknocks Sports Grill

Awesome. I can't believe a sports bar this great is in my hometown of Portland, previously known for the mediocrity known as Chili's and Applebee's. This place is huge, and even though there wasn't a whole lot of people on the Friday karaoke night after New Year's, you Wouldn't have known it because the contingent that was there made it sound like they were dozens and dozens of people there. The karaoke boss (Justin I think his name was?) was excellent and even threw in some songs of his own in between acts and my rendition of Freddy Fender wasted days and wasted nights even earned me not one but two beers bought for me by a really cool couple who acknowledged it as a classic. mostly country and western karaoke songs which is cool but also some alternative and rock stuff thrown in every now and then For a little added kick. I couldn't count how many TVs that were on the wall - it must've been at least 20 or 30 and they had even shut down a Room that evening so I can't even imagine how many there were in that room. My bartender Leah was a sweetheart and had awesome sleeves to look at so you can't go wrong there. Best watering hole in Portland I've seen so far. Kicks pep's and a1's ass. don't know how the rest of the nights are here but Friday is pretty damn cool For this sleepy bedroom burb of corpus. I grew up here so believe me when I say that Portland sorely needed a place like this and has been a long time coming. they even have a good size video game room with a basketball hoops game! and if that's not enough on the weekends the kitchen is open until 11:30 PM... I don't know if I've ever seen that in a Tavern no matter how late they stay open. Well done hardknocks. I'll be coming here every time I come down for vacation from now on.

I stopped in for the boil menu. Ordered 3 lbs of crawfish and 3 clusters of snow crab. 60 plus dollars not including drinks. The. Worst. Boil. Ever. I will never be coming here again and I suggest you spend your money elsewhere. Over cooked, over priced and definitely under sized. I regret not sending it back the second it hit my table. Waitstaff was nice.

Everything was very good! It's a sports bar and the food is actually very good. I came at lunch on a weekday and sat at the bar. Olivia was the bartender and she was a doll! Very sweet and very attentive. I got the triple play with calamari, mushrooms and cheesesticks. DO NOT GET THIS ALONE! there was so much food on this platter and it was only $13.99! Definitely worth it! Nice cold beer, great sports atmosphere. I'll be back for football one weekend with my husband for sure!

Had a dang good, massive Mack Brown burger at Hardknocks. It was 1/2 lb patty topped with mac 'n cheese, BBQ sauce, with onion rings, pickles, tomato, & lettuce. It was a mighty satisfying foray into high calorie meat adventure. Generous portion of fries was ridin' shotgun to insure the beltline tank would be totally topped up on departure. Beer was cold & tasty. My belly was doin' that ol' Happy Dance by the time I'd waded through all that goodness. Dining partner had tuna ceviche and wolfed it down without complaint, so I'm assuming it was tasty as well.Interior was high ceilinged, spacious, industrial aesthetic, multi-screen sports bar glory on steroids. Staff exhibited plenty of hustle & took good care of us. I would gladly stop into Hardknocks again to let the staff stoke me up for road haulin' the long trip.

I ordered a Cesar's salad with chicken and received a normal lettuce salad with chicken and Italian dressing. Not even close!! My wife ordered a buffalo chicken wrap and she got a tortilla wrapped chicken strip with lettuce m, no sauce at all. Again not even close. Paid $6.50 a draft beer, way too high!!! Won't be back!

Had the bacon wrapped shrimp, wings, and chicken Chicharrón they were kind of like chicken nuggets but small pieces Idk they were OK. Everything else was super yummy.

Honestly food is good so is the alcohol. Nice place to go with family & friends but don't ever work here, you get treated unfairly by the general manager and IT SHOWS!! Nothing will happen to her though so don't waste your time.

Chips and salsa with hot wings wasn't bad but the service was horrible.. Angel was her name..and $5.50 for a beer, i thought was a little steep.

Friday night, figured we stop to watch sweet 16 basketball. Food is generally very good, service is sometimes questionable. Tonight our server was good. Problem...karaoke. So loud we're shouting at each other and our waitress. This is still a restaurant first. I had to put rolled up napkins in my ears it was so loud. Will I return, not on a Friday night with karaoke.

What fantastic service! The food was awesome! We had wings and beers! Our server, Leilanie, could not have been any more accommodating and attentive! We appreciate dining at a local place with great food and fantastic service!
