Garrett's Barbecue

Southside location...heard a few good things about Garretts and we wanted to try. Got two 2 meat plates with potato salad and beans. Got to try chicken, brisket, rib and sausage. Super friendly staff. Keeping it short. The brisket was fall-apart tender. The meat on the rib was also very tender. The sausage seemed to be eckridge. The potoato salad was pretty good, the beans very runny. What was the overall impression? The complete absence of smoke flavor. Wife's one word review: "bland." I REALLY wanted to like it as it's close to my house. But we'll keep our business elsewhere.

On Holly Rd, next to Googlys.You have to hit this place up!!! I have heard some rumblings about this place so I had to check it out for lunch.All I can tell you is that Garret's Barbecue is legit!!!The brisket is BUTTER! So tender but keeps the finger test! Rub and smokiness is awesome!Pork ribs are out of this world tender, but get a nice bite!! Dude, the Pinto beans are smoked and are so good! As you can see by the pic I got the two meat plate, I ate one piece of bread because I wanted to taste the combination of brisket, onion,pickle and jalapeño. Damn it was good!Home run all the way! People you gotta hit this place, humble business getting going. They have the makings of being the Barbecue spot in corpus!!!!Good luck!!! I will definitely be back !!!

One of the better bbq joints in town! Tasty brisket and sausage. Looking forward to trying out the south side location soon!

This place is so good and authentic, the meat was all falling off practically as soon as I picked it up and pulled it apart. Haven't tried the ribs yet because I'm sure they sell out immediately but the brisket and sausage is so good. Highly recommend this place if you want some authentic bbq here in Corpus!

We were looking for coffee but the GPS brought us to this spot. We are from Dallas and end up here so figure well we're having lunch instead of coffee. It's a small hole in the wall and those most of the time are the best places to eat. Instead of spending money on fancy lights they put quality in the food. This secret gem is just that! Food was juicy, smoked to perfection and melted in your mouth like butter. The prices and portions are very reasonable! They take cash and card. Service was quick, friendly and efficient!! I am happy the GPS brought us here!!!

Do not sleep on this strip mall place that looks like it may not even be occupied when you arrive. You can smell the mesquite burning the minute you exit your car-didn't get a look at the pits. Upon arrival we were the only customers, creating questions. Really quiet. Only a young couple behind the counter. Minimal menu written on butcher paper tacked to the wall. Three meats available-sausage, brisket, and pork ribs. Simple sides like slaw and potato salad appearing to be commercially made, not in house. Neither of those are very good. One sauce on the tables with a sweet leaning flavor. I didn't ask about it's production. We ordered the three meat plate so as to try some of each. Sausage really good with a light burn of black pepper. We liked this very much. This was sliced behind the counter which I think is a mistake as it dries out as it sits on the tray during dining. Pork ribs came as two and a half bones and had an excellent pull. Not dry or over cooked at all. Brisket was a a very large pair of slices which was quite fatty imo. Was not asked what type we preferred-lean or fatty-but it had a lovely smoke ring, a deep rub redolent of black pepper, and a full mesquite flavor. The slices were best toward the top near the bark, as the lower portion nearest the fat was a bit too mushy for my taste. It was good with a drizzle of sauce and wrapped in the included white bread though. This very generous meal along with two beverages and tip came out to less than $30 making it a killer value when compared to other spots.

The Dino beef rib was so tender it fell off the bone!The marble brisket was the best ever!Potato salad was really good.Pork ribs were alsoVery tender and flavorful.I was so happy to find out that he had opened back up!Best bbq and the location on Holly rd is nice. This place finally opened up at new location. A bit of drive for me across town. However so worth it. The absolute best brisket, sausage BBQ you will find. There is no match to their smoked flavor and taste. The place is small and don't be thrown off. Best food, best service in town. Clean little place offering good food, decent prices and excellent service. BBQ sauce is bomb!! All fresh, sides too. If you haven't tried Garretts, its a MUST! You won't be disappointed.

Food is outstanding. Employees are friendly. Atmosphere is down to earth. I highly recommend coming here if you're in the mood for delicious barbecue.
