I love to try taquerias. This was my first time at El Norteno for a late breakfast. The exterior and interior of this old house screams "authentic" and based on Yelp reviews, I felt it was safe to try out.The staff was friendly (although we needed some translation help at ordering time). I tried their machacado burrito (eggs, Mexican steak, onions, peppers, tomatoes, etc).It was very large and served piping hot along with two squeeze bottles of serious hot sauces.Without the salsas, it was very good. With the salsas it was really really good. Very filling also.Overall a really good breakfast for me. I'll go try something else from the menu next time I'm in NB.

This is one of the "Hole in wall" "Best Kept Secret" , "Locals know Best" kind of place!! We had some friends that live in New Braunfels take us here and it's delicious. Think authentic homemade Mexican food at a great price! Place is always packed, small inside and limited parking, but so worth it. The tacos are delicious, the gorditas, the El Pastor, the menudo and more! We have never had anything that was bad. Not fancy just good. You can order to go if you can't get a table. So so good!

I wish I took pictures of the food me and my partner got. We were both super hungry so there was no time to appreciate the plate loll We've been wanting to try this place for over a year now and we always just missed it as they are just breakfast and lunch place. I ordered the Al Pastor nachos, it's always my favorite meal to try first at a new to me Mexican restaurant. I figure if a places messes up nachos the other food can't be that good lol Well let me say this was by far the best nachos I've ever had!! The pastor was a game changer!! I've never had pineapple on my nachos and I swear it was the absolute best! Plus the chips were fresh made!! They were sturdy too! Not a single chip got soggy!! It was phenomenal! My partner had pastor tacos and raved how great they were as well! The real challenge will be not going there everyday to eat. The service is fantastic everyone was so nice and it is the cutest little place! I can't rave enough how this was the best food in town!

I visit this place every time I'm in the area .. it always packed and you will always have to wait for a seat but is most definitely worth the wait . When you think of authentic Mexican food this place comes to mind .. it's not a fancy place really a hole in the wall place. Service is great food is even better . I always have a small menudo and this time around had there barrila tacos as well !! Omg I wanted to get another order to go for later .. never fails me !! I love this place

Service is always great. Usually the same two ladies when I come in. They have great prices and even better food. I definitely recommend their lengua and menudo. Both are delicious. Love their salsas as well especially the verde.

Very friendly service with a colorful atmosphere. The breakfast tacos and enchiladas here aren't mind blowing considering all of the options nearby, but if you're wanting to try someplace new, El Norteno has you covered.

Just realized that I haven't reviewed this place even though I order to go every single Sunday! This place is definitely a hole in the wall. If you blink you'll miss it.As you walk in you know the food is going to be authentic. You are greeted with a genuine smile and a "buenos días" (good morning). The to go section has little bar stools right next to the register. They have to go menus, specials, and even posters of the favorites up on the wall. I have to be honest, I've only ordered here to go. Plenty of times but always to go. It's about a 10 minute drive from my girlfriends apartment and food has always been warm when I get there. I highly recommend this place!

The restaurant was busy on a Sunday so we waited for a table but not too long. The service was great, the waitresses were very kind but busy (4 stars). I had the chicken quesadilla and it was ok, nothing to brag about. The beans and rice were bland, no real taste (1star).My bf had huevos rancheros, he didn't like his beans (too bland), his potatoes were too aldente and no seasoning. His barbacoa had no taste (0 stars)The item I liked was my cheese enchilada, that was tasty (gave it a 3). Maybe we came on a day that was just not hitting the mark or the cook was having a bad morning but it didn't hit the mark for us...
