El Mesquite

Went today for the breakfast buffet. Really everything we ate, even the non-buffet items, were very good! The price is 12.99 for buffet which includes 5 types of protein : eggs, barbacoa, menudo, bacon, sausage. It also has potatoes with chorizo, tamales, gorditas, refried beans, pancakes, biiiig and buttery flour tortillas, and a seasonal drink, which today was champurrado (sooo sweet and perfect) I tried a bit of everything and truly the food was amazing!! The service was great, fast seating and service. Ambiance and cleanness was also good! Definitely coming back and will recommend! Giving 4 stars for a leak in the bathroom that almost made me fall :/ buut other than that, great everything.

So good, customer service was perfect. Eating there reminded me of eating at my grandmas. Food was so comforting and perfect.

I had a very good chorizo taco plate today at El Mesquite. Great chorizo flavor with home made tortillas. The service was good. The restaurant had plenty of inside seating, and the restaurant was quiet enough to socialize.

This is the second time I visit this restaurant. My total honest opinion of this place is that, for what it is, it is way overpriced. There are a multitude of Mexican restaurants in Brownsville. We paid $25 for two of us. My friend had two gorditas and a coffee. I had potato and egg plate that came with some beans and I also had a lemonade. $6.99 for my potato and egg. $2.99 for my artificial lemonade. The egg in my potato and egg order was over cooked. The beans were just ok. The service was average. Most likely I won't return to this place nor will I recommend it to others. Merely because, like I said, there are plenty of other restaurants in the area like it with better food, better prices and just as good or better service.

We stopped by on Labor Day morning and the place was packed. We started off with some pan dulce and then had our main dishes. Food was fresh and hot. Portions are huge and we left completely satisfied (bellies full). The restaurant is small but exactly what we were expecting.

The parking lot is full, there's a line to get in, and every table is taken - that's all you need to know to realize this place is amazing!Having never been here before, and not speaking much Spanish, our server Nora took care of all of our needs! I had the Mexican eggs w flour tortillas and coffee. My friend had the shredded beef stuffed tortilla! Both perfectly prepared and so flavorful! Oh and the beans were some of the best I've ever had!The sweetbreads were fresh and perfect for a starter w a hot cup of coffee!I can't say enough good things about this place!Stop scrolling and go here! You will not be disappointed!

Decided to make a last minute stop for a breakfast taco. Ended up ordering breakfast burritos with egg, bean, potato and bacon. As I had not been here before, I wasn't sure what to expect. The burritos turned out to be quite large. They were tasty and very filling. Make sure you bring your appetite if you order a burrito!

Good solid breakfast. Enjoyed the complimentary breakfast. Service was pleasant. Would happily consider coming back.

The place was packed and parking lot full. The service was fast and friendly. Crowded with tables placed a little too close together. The food was good and tasty (not a 5 but a 4.5). They tend to place a little too much emphasis on quantity. A slightly smaller portion would be welcomed.A singer showed up and sang some mariachi songs. She was very good and didn't overstay her welcome.

Went to this restaurant by accident and what a happy encounter it turned out to be. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast. It started with coffee and a basket of bakery rolls. I ordered eggs mexicana with a homemade flour tortilla (to die for!). My husband had the breakfast special and he said it was delicious. Serve was outstanding! Restaurant is neat, clean and very comfortable--well-maintained property. Highly recommend.
