El Charro Amigo

This is one of my "must try one day" places in the Canyon lake area. Glad we finally did. Restaurant was very clean, staff/owners were super friendly and helpful. The food....freshly made, piping hot, delicious and they give big servings. We had the Vallarta plate and the Burritos Supremos. Both were amazingly good. The free chips and salsa was addictive. I am not a horchata girl but theirs was pretty good, I asked for a to-go cup. I was told they made it in-house. They take cash or credit/debit card but note that they do charge a credit card fee. I noticed that they serve menudo on weekends so I definitely have to come back.This little Mexican restaurant in Canyon Lake is definitely worth visiting.

I love this place. It's a little locally owned spot; the owners relatives have El Charro in Blanco Texas. I think some people have reviewed negatively because one waitress doesn't speak English too well and may misunderstand you. I can tell you from my experience that she is an excellent waitress - I can converse decently in Spanish and that helps; I admit. These folks want you to be happy and the prices are rather nice. There is always a special (or two) on a whiteboard behind the counter. Typically they are discounted regular menu items. The menu is quite varied. I don't think I've had better salsa than what you get with the chips... I told them to sell it and they have me. A cup of it! If you care - you can see the kitchen from the dining room so you can bet there's no funny business ha...

Our food is always good. The staff is always friendly. The husband loves the chili relleno! Wish they were open in the evening.

I love this place! Their breakfast tacos are amazing and worth the $ for sure, and they're reasonably priced. They stuff em full and actually give you cheese for days, which I appreciate especially since it's an up charge. Give them a try!

I brought a couple of workers here for lunch. E we're on a time constraint. We ordered and waited and waited. They weren't busy at all. Whoever was at the cash register wasn't interested when I asked where our food was. We ordered three different things. The fish tacos were good hence the three stars! I personally ordered carne guisada tacos. The flour tortillas were skimpy at best and the carne was in a red tomato sauce! Lots of grizzle in a cheaper cut of meat. Just flat out wasn't good. Almost non descriptive! Little taste or spice. The service was spotty at best. Probably won't be going back!
