Boys and girls, let me tell you a little story about four hungry women. Me and my girlfriends get together for either Saturday or Sunday breakfast. We are some loud, bawdy ladies who love food. We do not care if the food comes from a fancy upscale place or from a hole in the wall dive. Now Eddie's has been around for some 800 years... forgive my hyperbole. It's been around for a long time and I do not think it is going anywhere any time soon. I love this place. The first time I went was during lunch and I ordered the nachos. I was craving good old school nachos. These days restaurants will serve you a mountain of chips with stuff on top. You clear away the chips on the top and underneath all you have is just chips. No stuff. It's a waste of food. So I was craving nachos and I knew Eddies would not let me down and they didn't. It was a perfect plate of nachos, with every chip filled with yummy stuff; jalapenos, cheese, meat and refried beans. I asked for extra tomatoes and onions. Y'all are saying to yourselves, "So, it's nachos. How can anyone mess that up?" Trust me. I have been disappointed before by a simple plate of nachos. The next time I went, I got the grilled fish tacos and OHHH EMMMM GEEEEEEEEE!! So simple, so good. Then I decided to do the ultimate test of a good restaurant, I invited the girls to Eddie's for our weekend breakfast. It was a win, of course. Everyone tried at least one flavor of pancake, everyone had different styled eggs and we all had different meats. I can only really talk about my experience but I also need to talk about my friend sitting across from me. She ordered her eggs over medium. Over medium means a runny yolk but that white better be set, absolutely set. Of course, they were perfect. I saw the eggs and I got a little jealous because mine were scrambled. But, for very good reason they were scrambled. I ordered the eggs a la Mexicana, which means they come scrambled with jalapeno, onion and tomato. I asked them to remove the beans, and for my potatoes to be crispy and a side of barbacoa. Also, I ordered one of their pork sausage pancakes. Holy wow!!! That's a lot of food, isn't it? Well, I tell you what, I ate the WHOLE thing. Slowly, but I ate it all. The eggs were good, just the right amount of moisture. I will, in the future, ask for more jalapeno. I like heat. The papas were good. You see, no one will ever do papas right in my opinion. My mother taught me how to cook breakfast papas. Cut the potatoes into very small cubes, make sure the pan is screaming hot and season the papas well before you set them in the pan. Once the oil (or preferably the bacon drippings) is hot enough toss the seasoned papas in the pan, as they cook toss in some chopped onion and at the end toss in some minced garlic. Now that, to me, is how one makes breakfast potatoes. But maybe I am spoiled.I have seen some comments on here about the barbacoa being flavorless. When you cook barbacoa, you can bomb the shit out of it with cumino, garlic, salt, pepper and whatever else you have in the cabinet and you are not going to get the taste. You may get a subtle hint here or there but the cheek meat is not exactly accepting of flavor like other cuts. So yes, you will have to put salt on it, if you have some garlic salt on the table, add that. But even when you salt it, when it is first on the plate, you, or maybe it's just me, have to re-salt it again at the midpoint of eating it. Barbacoa does not hold flavor. OK, so now to the pancake. The sausage pancake. Oh... you just do not know! Dangit! I have made pancakes before with crumbled bacon. They came out alright but they weren't great. I had not tried the sausage in the batter before. Y'all... ok you know how if you're on death row and your number is up they give you that last meal. That last bit of food that made you happy on this earth? Seriously, this is last meal worthy. That could have been my last meal and I would have died with a smile on my face. The only thing that I wasn't floored with was the tortillas. It may just be my preference for fluffy melt in your mouth tortillas but the ones we got were flat and I guess maybe they were cold. I don't know. And really, it is not that big a deal to me when everything else was so superb.

We had the Mexican combo plate with cheese enchiladas, carne guisada and a chalupa instead of the beef taco and one Chicharron and egg taco and one spam, bean and egg taco. We had to ask for the enchiladas to get microwaved because they were cold and spam was not crispy. The egg in the spam taco was cold and the tortillas are just average. Not sure what all the hype is about this place but there are better places to eat. Service was good.

Was hungry this morning so decided to stop by and get a breakfast taco. Polite staff acknowledged me fast, took order , charged me. Left drove down the street pulled over so I could eat. Taco didn't look impressive. Look like potato and egg that was sitting for a while. Tortilla was nothing to brag about, also taco was just there barely warm.

All I'll say is a Taco of chorizo and egg with beans should not cost $4.31 with tax. It was just a taco nothing more nothing less. Not worth the price when you can get similar item down the road for less.

They only thing a knock this place on is the Barbacoa could use salt.We went with our dog and sat outside. Service was quick and they brought us drinks quickly. As it was our first time we over ordered. I ordered a couple enchiladas and barbacoa taco , again this was lacking salt but enchiladas were very good. Wife also ordered a barbacoa taco, a suicide taco and a carne asada. Food was very solid. Due to the high wind dust was blowing about. You get a lot of food for the money.

Went and got breakfast tacos through the drive thru. I got a potato and egg with bacon. Big disappointment. The potatoes tasted like they were the leftover potatoes from the day before breakfast batch. They were dry and hard and tasted like they had been cooked the day before. Good fresh tasty food is what brings the customer in, not recycled food. Customers are paying more for fast food and expect to get a good product for their money.Eddie's used to be the Go-To place for breakfast tacos but now it seems service has gone out the window.

Horrible and cold taquitos. Went there after Enrique's closed and we were soooo disappointed. No comparison! We are originally from Corpus but have moved away and always look forward to coming home to CC for good Taquitos. This is not the place!! We went to Jaliscos but they were having an employee appreciation days so we went to Eddies. Big mistake! Never again! 4 Taquitos were over $24 dollars? Geez!!
