Protective plastic strip that was not removed. Tech applied thermal last on strip and put it on my CPU.

do not use dr. nerds.worst customer service and i still can not use my computer.they replaced my hard drive and now the brightness is permanently fixed on zero or at best a 6%, when compared to another computer (both hp).the manager, ross curiel who was "helping" me wouldn't tell me his name (found it on fb), would not even acknowledge that anything was wrong with the brightness and claimed repeatadly that it was due to windows 10.do not take your computer here if you want to use it again. #drnerdswherecomputersgotodie

I've been doing business with Dr. Nerd since August 2013 when I purchased one of their in-house towers. Since then I've purchased a used laptop and a used monitor. At first, their repair service was excellent but by 2015 I noticed a steady drop quality. Every time I had to have one of my computers debugged by them, I'd get home only find either they didn't fix the problem or they corrupted some of my files. A few months ago I had them repair the hinge on my HP laptop and instead of replacing the parts, they glued the hinge. That lasted about two days then the glue failed. That was $80.00 down the drain. Most recently (November 29, 2016), I was continually getting a "Bad Pool Reader" screen and my computer and it would automatically go into restart. I took it in for repair but after paying $92.00 my computer was doing the same thing. After arriving back home and running the computer for only three minutes it started giving me the "Bad Pool Reader" screen and restarting again. I did some Internet open source searches and found that the problem was most likely a software application that Dr. Nerd had installed that needed to be uninstalled. I uninstalled it and that fixed my problem.I contacted Dr. Nerd and asked them to reimburse my $92.00. Their response was basically (and I'm paraphrasing) "not my problem." Their representative said they ran malware programs and virus programs (all installed on my computer) and "cleaned" my computer and they could not get it to give them the "Bad Pool Reader" screen. Not once. So since they never actually saw what the problem was, how is it they could say when I picked it up that they fixed it? The representative said that once the "Bad Pool Reader" screen appeared, I should have brought the computer back to them. He failed to offer to reimburse me the $92.00 or any portion thereof. So basically they earned $92.00 for doing nothing and I actually solved the problem myself with the help of some good Internet info.My time is valuable. The several times I've had them repair my computers, I've had to return because they did a bad job. The only reason I returned to them this time is because the tower was one of their homemade towers and they give priority repair when you purchase their in-house equipment. I needed the tower back quickly since I use if for work and home.So for me, Dr. Nerd ain't what she used to be. They started out being very thorough and professional, then it decayed over time. You're welcome to give them a try but I wanted to share my story with you. I'll be looking for a more technically proficient computer shop in the future. Goodbye Dr. Nerd.Update: On November 30, 2016 I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB). Dr. Nerd responded quickly to the BBB and refunded my $92.00 on December 7, 2016.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!One star is actually too much, but no stars is not possible. I took my computer to Nerd because I couldn't print anything and my C drive was totally full. I wanted my computer cleaned up, a new printer, and the new printer to be compatible with my computer. I took it to them, paid more than $250 for their services, and left a happy camper. Two weeks later, when attempting to print boarding passes, I learned that my computer wasn't responding to the print command from the internet; it worked with word docs only. When I called them, they wanted to charge me again saying, "we don't work for free". Remember, I paid them in excess of $250 because I was having printing problems. They are not a good company, they do not honor their work, and they treat their customers poorly. Beverly Grady

Wish I could give 0 stars. I brought my MacBook here due to it going pretty slow. I paid $180 to have them run diagnostic tests and see what's wrong. I get a call two weeks later stating it needs repairs that total close to $500. I decline because I can just buy a new laptop instead. When I pick up my laptop and I turn it on and it doesn't work AT ALL, it doesn't go past the starter screen. The tech told me some BS I was so frustrated. I did not receive a full or partial refund. I basically paid $180 to have them fully destroy my laptop! Never again stay away from this place!

Really wish I would have checked here for reviews first and saved myself the trouble of having to write another. Had my phone glass replaced Saturday. Two days later it cracked.....in an otterbox..in my pocket. They will replace it with the wrong color for a fee. I feel absolutely robbed. Their glass was absolutely defective and they want me to pay again? Thanks but no thanks. I'll go somewhere that stands behind their work next time.

I took my pc to Dr Nerds to get my AIO water cooler removed and to install an Air Cooler. I paid $100 plus tax. When I took my computer home after it the work was done I noticed my core temps were running up to 100 degrees. Extremely hot. It was as if I had no cooling at all. I immediately called back and the tech told me he did everything he was suppose to and didn't know what else to tell me. I was upset that he didn't give me no other solution nor alternative other than that. I was forced to have a friend look at it for me and install a cooler for me. Also, he found that the tech had not even removed the protective plastic strip off the cooler before installing it. He just put the thermal paste on the plastic strip and slapped my air cooler on my CPU. That's the reason I wasn't getting any cooling at all. I was upset but understand that people make mistakes and maybe he just missed taking off the plastic strip and they would at least be honest and refund my money since they didn't provide the service I paid for. No harm no foul. Well what I encountered was nothing less than shocking. I had never...EVER...been treated like this in a business. I went in and spoke with the owner and he gave me several excuses. First he said, he didn't have any money in the store to give me. Then he said they would have to research it. Then he said I would have to come and talk with his tech and his tech would have to give me money out of his own wallet. Unbelievable! So I went back the next day and the tech told me I should have brought the computer back because it was under warranty. I told him that I called him back immediately after he did the work and told him my CPU was overheating and he told me "sorry I did everything I was suppose to and I don't know what else to tell you." He didn't offer to help me. He didn't give me any solutions. He didn't even ask me to bring it in and have him take a look at it to see if he could fix it. Nothing other than "I don't know what else to tell you." He told me he spent his time working on the computer and they weren't going to give me my money back. I told him but you didn't provide the service I paid you for, that was to properly install my cooler. After I left the store I called the owner back and told him what had transpired. He told me he was not going to help me. Not only that but had the audacity to tell me that he doesn't see anyone missing a protective plastic strip, implying that I'm lying. I told him what do you think I'm getting out of this. I've lost $100 and my time coming back and calling back. I'm not gaining anything. Then he said that his tech always tells the customers to bring their items back if they are still under warranty. Once again, implying that I'm lying when his tech had just admitted that he didn't tell me that when I called back. The biggest kicker was when the owner told me that it was my fault because I didn't talk with him before I took it to someone else because his tech didn't help me. I told him that his techs lack of service is not my fault nor my responsibility. That's his job as an owner to deal with that. I'm the customer. His tech left me with no alternative. He said that's how warranties work, if you don't get help then you talk with the owner. Because I didn't do that then he wasn't going to help me. I told him to show me where his warranty says that it is only in effect if I talk with the owner? It doesn't. His tech is an employee and represents the company and their policies. I should not have to manage his employees and ask them to refund me out of their own pockets. And it's not my fault he doesn't have money in the store to refund me. I tried to be reasonable and asked if he could at least compensate me partially because I understand it did take to to work on the computer (even though he didn't install the cooler properly). The owner said he would not even partially compensate me. So they gladly took my $100, didn't install my cooler properly, didn't offer to fix it, didn't provide me any recourse, and didn't make an attempt to make things right. Nothing less than robbery. Simply the worst business experience I've ever had in my 49 years of living. The WORST. Not even close. Not only am I not going back but I'm on a mission to let everyone I know, including the BBB and every other Review service how they treat their customers.

I gave them my daughter's laptop six weeks ago it's still not repaired. I paid $250 up front. Today I went in to check status was brought my daughter's laptop in pieces and told that I could take it but I would only be refunded $160 that they needed the $90 for labor for not fixing the laptop. If we ever get the laptop back I will never use them again.

They are terrible business men, awful techs, I took 2 mac book airs in to be fixed, they said oh they have water damage, can't do much about it, but lo and behold, they were perfectly happy to sell me a $350 MacBook pro they "refurbished" not a week later it wouldn't turn on and the enter and shift key didn't work... they said oh we found water damage so its not covered under warranty... I can't stress enough how much I would recommend anyone to stay away from these crooks, it isn't worth the time, money or heart ache.I would give negative 10 stars if I could.

DO NOT use Dr Nerds. I took them my computer and told them it had a graphics card problem that I could not solve. They quoted me $99 to look at it. I asked if they could look at it immediately and they said it would be an extra $40. I agreed. After 24 hours I called for an update. The guy said that he didn't know yet and had no notes to share and that "Would you want a chef to serve you a raw steak?" Seriously? After 48 hours I went to the store for an update. They still had no update to give me. No notes in the file, no idea what was wrong with it, no proof that they had even opened the computer, and no clue as to when they would have an answer. So I demanded that they give it back to me. The guy insisted that I pay him $99 even though he could not show that they had done any work. He then grabbed the computer as if to run away with it. I agreed to pay the unearned money just to have it back. I then took it to Aces Computer. Within 2 hours of dropping it off, they called me with a diagnosis and helped me work through possible solutions. Aces is a serious and professional business. Dr. Nerds is not. I hope that the $99 Dr. Nerd collected from me is the most expensive money they ever collected by people reading this review.

Horrible services and prices. I need a photo from an Mac formatted USB drive but didn't have a Mac computer, so I asked them if they could open the drive and email me the photo. They wanted to charge me $50.00 dollars for this service, Data recovery. At most would have taken 5 seconds of their time. That is estimated $36,000.00 THOUSAND dollars an hour! So much for small local businesses caring about their customers. Not this business, Very Disappointed! I've wasted way more time writing this review in order to warn anyone interested in using their services to be careful and can probably expect to be ripped off.
