Downtown Cafe

Went for breakfast. Food was very good. Service was excellent. Very comfortable atmosphere. Very friendly staff. New favorite go-to.

First visit to this quaint little restaurant right on Conway in downtown Mission. We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door and told to sit anywhere we liked. Our waiter arrived shortly and took our drink orders and left us menus. He returned with my coffee and our waters. We placed our order for breakfast. I ordered a biscuit with sausage gravy, two over easy eggs and two crisp strips of bacon. The wife ordered two pancakes. Our food arrived in a reasonable time, served piping hot. BTW my coffee was very good! A couple things I've learned down here in The Valley: they don't really do biscuits and gravy very well and they don't know how to make GOOD hash browns. Their biscuits aren't fluffy like back home to begin with and then many times they slice them into thirds so you get these thin little slices. Just not my favorite. The sausage gravy was OK. Nothing special. They did cook my OE eggs and crisp bacon perfectly, so on balance it was good. As an added bonus, on Monday and Tuesday if your breakfast is $10 or more, the coffee is free. So I got free coffee. Coleen's pancakes were nothing special in fact, I took a bite and while the flavor was good, they were a little on the tough/chewy side.We'll definitely come back and try some other menu items. The price was totally reasonable - $18 including tax.

The decor is great! Our breakfast was great! I spent some time looking around at all the cute collections of wall decor. Each table in their dining areas is uniquely decorated. We loved our Sunday breakfast and coffee. Our server was great. Will definitely come here again.

The Good food is complimented by the friendly & acomidating atmospher . The service is friendly and eficiente. The atmosphere and decore is full of pleasant surprizes !

Very clean and inviting!! Great service!! Small menu that I liked! Food was good, I had a veggie omelette, hash browns and corn tortillas, little too spicy for me, but good! Will definitely return, would like to try lunch.

Had a late lunch at Downtown Cafe. It's a cozy place right on Conway. The two of us had different entrees. Complimentary cup of soup came first. It was very good. Then our Chicken Molé, and Carne Guisada plates came. Both had beans, rice and salad. Both were hot and very tasty, and came with fresh soft tortillas. Coffee and raspberry tea rounded out our meal. Then we did what we don't usually do - ordered dessert. A large piece of coconut cake. Oh my gosh that was good! Our server, Araceli, was friendly, and efficient. We would recommend this cafe, and we will return there and try breakfast soon.
