Dona Carmen’s - South Padre Island

The food for breakfast was delicious. We had chorizo con huevos with frijoles and chilaquiles. The tortillas are fresh and great, so are all the fresh salsas.

Gave this place a second chance, and .... Depending on what you order, and what the specials are, it's med. Went for breakfast, no prices on the menu? Odd. But whatever. It was OK, but not for the price. Won't go back. There was no one in there. We spent $97.00 (exactly) per the calculator for a family of 5. No alcohol or seafood:.. most all ordered water. Oh! And we got to see this cutest dog piss on the floor next to our table inside and got to inhale fabulous the entire time we ate. Rip off.... won't go back.

It might be just me. I'm a gringo. And this restaurant is clearly Mexican- Spanish menus, and wait staff. The place is clean, nicely decorated, and the staff are attentive and nice. The problem is the Dona taco. I ordered egg, bacon, and spinich. What came back was a bacon grease mess. It was glistening and dripping with grease. I was starving. I took a few bites, paid my bill and headed to the airport. I want to be sensitive to cultural differences in food preparation. Maybe this is a preferred style. But not for me.

Waitress never attended us after the cashier repeatedly reminded her about our table. Left after 15 minutes of sitting down. Not including the time that we waited to get seated.

Very good Food! Our order was taken fast! The lady's there were very friendly their drinks are freshly made Loved that! My husband asked for a pineapple drink and they literally took out a whole pineapple it was delicious. The food delicious 10/10 the ambience is very nice and calm. No loud loud noise we've been here several times and the food does not disappoint

Our servers were very attentive and right on time with refills and food. We are here twice for breakfast and enjoyed both. First I had a scrambled egg, chorizo and potato with refried beans. Next was a chorizo and egg burrito, both were very good. I highly recommend Dona Carmen's for a good meal with quick service and competitive price.

If you want a break from the tourist scene and want to eat where the locals do, you must go here. The food is very authentic even the menu is in Spanish. I ordered tacos (not sure which ones) and the hubby had the J.D plate. Everything tasted great, the hubby even said that those were the best beans he has ever had. They gave us a sample of soup which was very flavorful. The salsas had a nice kick to them especially the verde. The server was very nice!

We stopped in for a quick breakfast to get out of the rain. We had huge breakfast tacos. The sauces both red and green were excellent. Prices were reasonable for the area and service was good.

Great environment, great staff, food was delicious, but I got food poisoning. I don't know what went wrong.

Yum. Monster sized tacos. So good. My go to taco, Chorizo and Potato was great. One of their tacos is like 6 taco cabana tacos.
