Hey guys I checked that place out and I got a pedicure and a manicure that looks like it was done by a 5 year old so if that's your style - go for it! Otherwise - save your time and money and go elsewhere.

It took me a few months to say what I wanted to say here. I didn't want to write a review in anger, but concluded my feelings about this salon experience weren't likely to change-even when/if my hair grows back. Let me preface this by saying I don't feel my hair is my identity, however, the plummet my self esteem took after my visit, changed how I feel about my "look", and not for the better. I chose this salon because the term "corrective color expert" was in description. Prior to visit, I was in the hospital, on IV antibiotics, and my hair was affected. When I made appointment, I was clear about what I wanted- all over color, with tidy, blunt *trim*. SHE wanted to give me a new look. This did not interest me, as I felt my current look worked for me at that point in my life, and it made me feel good; age appropriate, but not dated, or striving to look like a "club version" of myself. So without listening to what I said, she literally took a dramatic swipe at the back of my hair, and poof, it was on the floor in a heap. I was dumbfounded, and couldn't believe someone would do such a thing. The "fixing" of her attempted makeover went downhill from there. The "corrective color" was a bizarre, color removing process, which has permanently messed up both the color & texture of my hair. When it was over, I cried & exclaimed I looked like Mary Tyler Moore. She righteously defended this by telling me how attractive Mary Tyler Moore was. Overall, my experience just made me angry & sad. I felt bad because she felt bad, I was frustrated because I felt she did what SHE wanted, but felt sorry for her on some level, because she seemed to sincerely hope that I'd like it

This is an unusual salon in that Denise does not offer the chemical processes that are so detrimental to you health. No acrylic nails done so none of those toxic fumes. No Brazilian blowouts that use formaldehyde. She has been in business for many years, and is one of the few places where you can get an expert razor hair cut for naturally curly hair. The decor is retro and it is a smaller space, so you want to take that into consideration.

My experience as a student at Denise's massage school was one of my worst ever! Thirteen months after completing all my requirements Denise is still causing me problems. She did not adhere to all the items in her contract. The building and paperwork was poorly maintained, towels were ragged, and sheets smelled like rancid oil, which was embarrassing to bring clients in. Only a trolley was provided as a desk. She talked down to me, and lied multiple times so I could not trust what she said. I had to use a bath towel for draping instead of learning to use a sheet. I made A's and finished my hours quickly but she still bad-mouthed me. She wrongly accused me of stealing twice. She took six months after I paid her in full to send the State my official transcript before I could get my license and start working. There is too much negative to write it all here, but do yourself a favor and stay away from Denise.
