Boring! Maybe I had great expectations, but the sausage kolache (klobasnek, if you like) was really uninteresting. Like plain white bread around a ho-hum stick-o-meat with, maybe, a teeny squirt of cheese substance. My imagination had primed me for so much more. The cookies are small and on the dry side, again underwhelming. Service was gloomy. Maybe it was too early.

Outstanding and consistent! My favorites are the sandwiches and anything with the walnut dressing. The chicken and tuna salad are fantastic! Try things here, I have not gotten to yet but love everything so far.

I literally just needed a coffee shop for an hour while I waited for a meeting. Not many coffee shops in the area so this one was basically all that was available. Coffee was terrible, kolaches were cold and the pasteries were just bread with sprinkled sugar. It's almost as if someone went to HEB, bought a bag of dinner rolls and then sprinkled sugar on top. Worst of all, bugs flying around in the glass display case. Not sanitary, staff not friendly.

Great place for lunch. Sandwich combo is the way to go. Fresh food, no greasy stuff here. A cookie with your meal. I have eaten here since 1999. Hope they stick around a long time. Never ever had a bad meal or service here. Oh, they now have 3 pound cinnamon rolls!!

This is my favorite uptown lunch spot, hands down. They bake their own bread and have a huge variety of kolaches, strudel, etc, all of which is delicious. Their chicken salad is killer -- perfectly ground chicken, just the right amount of celery, pickle, etc, well-seasoned. Try it on their wheat bun. Totally worth the extra couple bucks over Subway. Actually, I can never manage to get away from Subway for less than 8 bucks, so Czech-Mex is totally comparable. Sandwich, chips or cookie, and an iced tea is around 6 bucks. Some things to note: (1) they only take cash and checks, no cards; (2) it gets packed at the noon hour, so come early or late or call your order in and take it to-go; (3) they have super cute decorated sugar cookies for every season & holiday you can imagine, which make great gifts.

Since I work in downtown Corpus Christi I always like to walk some place close if there is something available. Today I stopped in at Czech-Mex Bakery and Cafe at the invite of a friend. It is a walk up counter with a pastry case where you move to the end to pay after ordering. I had the grilled chicken sandwich with lettuce, onion, jalapeños and pepper jack cheese on a homemade wheat bun. I got the meal which came with chips & tea. The food was tasty and having that soft fresh bread made all the difference. Total price: $7.50I would recommend the restaurant for lunch.

I called in my order my food over the phone following their EZ Order guide. Once I walked up my order was ready. That doesn't happen anywhere during lunchtime. I was very impressed. Walked in, paid, ate my lunch. Now the food is on another level, so fresh and tasty. I recommend their sandwich meal, yum. AND you get dessert; cookie of your choice. Great service, great food! Will be going again!
