This is when I first started going to the gym with more regularity. I was about 220 here. I'm a short woman, so 220 is no bueno!!!
Crunch South, two levels of sweatastic experiences!
Time to get CRUNCHED!!!
This is Spooky. She's lazy. Some days I'm lazy with her. So I blame Spooky for not going to the gym every day.
One of my favorite gym shirts.
Don't worry, be happy and get your sweat on!!!
Seeing some slight changes. For instance, this shirt used to be tight across my belly, now its loose!
Crunch South, so big, a little overwhelming but still pretty awesome as gyms go.

I hate exercise. You need to understand that before you read the rest of this Yelp. I hate exercise so much, but knowing I have to do it or become even more morbidly obese, get full on diabetes, or have some kind of heart attack or stroke made me start going to the gym. I started with the FF gym on Alameda. I went by myself and none of the employees seemed involved in what people were trying to accomplish by going to the gym. The trainers were aloof and looked like they would rather be somewhere else. I hated it. I left. My best friend is a member at Crunch, and she invited me to workout with her. I thought I would hate Crunch. It's a gym, blugh, phooey! However, the people there, Eli especially, was so friendly and seemed absolutely invested as to why I started going there. It was a different kind of vibe. She and I worked out there and then she soon fell off the wagon, she's sickly and can't really workout. And I started getting bored going by myself but then I started seeing a personal trainer. I bought a package for $150 to have three training sessions. My trainers were able to show me what I can do with my bad knees, ankles, and shoulders so I can strengthen the muscles around these bad joints to get better use of them. I plan on getting a trainer to work with at least one or two months out of the year. They're really good at helping you understand your body and what it can accomplish. Jose and Hugo were awesome. But still, I hated going to the gym alone. I'm a social person, I like making everything I do a social experience. So, I started going to different classes. I so enjoy the Evolve classes with Margaret. Oh, my goodness, so much fun. I am looking forward to doing the Ride class and the hot yoga. I just haven't gotten there yet. I want to build up more stamina. If you are on Social Media, you may have heard about Somatic Exercises. It's the latest label for basic exercising. It's not new and it's not a fad. According to an article by Johns Hopkins Medicine, "The term 'Somatics' was coined by professor and theorist Thomas Hanna in 1976 and it has come to represent a field of movement studies, (and breathing practices) and bodywork that foregrounds the internal physical sensations, perceptions, and experiences of the body."Somatic Exercises are focused, slow, movements, stretches and breathing practices to better understand your body and mind to help you release unnecessary negative energy, feelings and to essentially become a better you. For me, that's what the Evolve classes do for me. It might do the same for you. To go to a gym and workout does not mean you have to tear it up and shred at all costs. You can if that's you. But if it's not you, you can take your own pace and achieve a happier, healthier you. I really only have one complaint when it comes to the classes. I've taken a couple of Zumba classes, and I just need to ask, why does the music have to be so freaking loud? I'm not in a club or at a concert, I'm in an exercise room. And can we please have the lights on? But practically every Zumba class I have ever attempted has been super loud, so this complaint is not just about Crunch's Zumba. But I tell you, the class is fun, and you get your sweat on! I am not graceful, and I am rhythmically challenged, so I don't do Zumba too often. As far as customer service goes, gotta give a shout out to Mercedes at the North gym. She is amazing at figuring out how to help people and she is sincere about it. Also, Beatrice at the South gym. Awesome people. Truly. And they seem like they're really invested in their customers. Truly a wonderful experience. Now, I go to the gym only twice a week. I need to go more often to obtain the goals I have set for myself. But the big difference is I enjoy going now. I enjoy getting my sweat on and I enjoy the people I meet there. I honestly hope the North gym will move to a place where they can expand and offer Ride and hot yoga and (my fave) a sauna. I love a good sauna sweat! Talk about releasing toxins! Holy wow! And then there's the Red Light Therapy booth. Oh my heavens. If you are having problems with muscles aching, go and get 15 minutes in that booth. Now, this is a stand up booth. But have sat in lotus position taking in ever second of that red light therapy and came out feeling so relaxed. I think it's better than the hydro massage and that's really amazing!Ok, I'm going to the gym and get my sweat on! How about you? Come on!!!https://info.crunch.com/sigrefproguest?ref=Laurette+Escobar&[email protected]

Was in town for a conference and needed a gym for the week. Checked out several and this place looked to have all we needed. Staff was awesome and the people were friendly. The manager Nigh Clary was a pleasure to work with for a 4 day pass and it was very affordable. Equipment was in great condition, and of high quality. Gym was very clean and staff is constantly disinfecting and or vacuuming. Big variety of options from stretching center, HIIT, free weights, and group training. If I lived here I'd be a member in a second. If you're looking for a gym this is your place. Get after it!

Great place yo work out. Their membership scale is a bit expensive. They charge ypu for the classes. Other places just charge you a fee and the classes are included but not here. Other then that the lo ker rooms are nice and the workout equipment is okay. Not new technology but not basic either.

I do not recommend this gym!! I have several issues with this gym that I am a member of at the new location at the moment only bc I wasn't aware of these issues before signing up due to it being a new location and they had sign ups before grand opening. Lesson learned!1. You can only have 2 kids signed under you for child care. I understand that you can only have 2 at a time but most families have more than 2 kids. I need 4 on my account but I would only bring a max of 2 at a time. 2. The " circuit" machines are not used as "circuit". People camp out on them for 20 min at a time and when I asked one of the trainers, I was told they can use them however long they like and the ones I need regularly, they only have 1 of each.3. There is always motorcycles parked in the yellow markings on the handicap parking spots. Where it's impossible to open a car door. I have reported several times and yet it continues.4. My husband and I both canceled our other gym memberships that exempt the annual fee for active duty members. I was told that they would probably be doing that here as well but turns out that they will not so that's an extra $100 a year for us. 5. This gym is extremely big and I expected several tanning beds. They only have 2 stand up beds. The gym I left had 9 beds. All different types. 6. They have a special weighing scale that tells you your body weight per limb, water, lean mass, fat, etc. BUT even at the higher membership, you can use it bc they want you to sign up with a trainer then you can use it. Crazy, you can go to Pureline Nutrition and get it done freeI'm constantly getting phone calls to set up my "free" training session even though I have already had it!To be clear, we signed up prior to grand opening and taking their word and some assuming on my part. Very disappointed If none of this bothers you than this gym might be right for you.

The absolute worst customer service and management. I was told I needed to go on to cancel my membership, which I did. The young boy who helped me couldn't figure things out then needed another person in order to help. it took them well over 30 minutes to cancel my membership, so I thought. this was over 8 months ago and I am STILL getting charged. I have called over and over and spoken with management about the issue over the past 3 months. Was told the matter needed to be addressed with upper management and I would get a call back, I have yet to recoeve a call. I have even called many times since trying to get ahold of the manager I dealt with on the matter, and was always told she was busy or gone and that they would leave a message and call me back. Absolutely terrible service and do not recommend getting a membership there.
