Coastal Bend Pain Management

Had surgery scheduled for over a month. Called the day before as nobody had told me who was paying for the procedure, me, my insurance company etc. I was told that my portion I was responsible for was $XX. Showed up for the procedure the next morning and they ask for payment, 5.5 times more than I was quoted less than 24 hours earlier. When I told her what she had quoted me the day prior, she said she apologized for not giving me all of the information and they indeed the total was the 5.5 times amount. I said no thanks and walked out. Frankly I could have afforded the cost but that just isn't right to quote a price the day prior and change it the next morning day of surgery when you are already nervous enough. What did they forget to tell me about the surgery or post surgery???!

CBPM is a great place for me to get injections for my neck and lower back. Staff is friendly, professional and go out of their way to make sure you are at ease and comfortable with the procedures. They let you know what you need to do for the procedure and then follow up after to determine your results. Dr. Tchickardt is very knowledgeable and makes you feel at ease. Explains all the procedures and what to expect in regards to each procedure. He and his staff go out of their way to ensure your safety and a successful routine!

Caring, efficient and on time! The entire staff seems to truly care about your comfort. If you have chronic pain they will work with you to find the best solution. Highly recommend

I have not yet been to see this Dr. But I have been waiting for over a month for them to call me and schedule to even consult with the dr... my Dr sent it in the Monday after thanksgiving. I called them the next Monday as I had not yet heard from them. They said they never received it. Called my Dr, whom I spoke to personally not reception, he said well I sent it in myself. Let me send it again. And did so on the spot. Here we are after Christmas. After the new year and still I have not heard a word. If they are that busy or that unprofessional perhaps I should consider another facility all together. I have waited this long because My insurance company requires a referral in order to see a new doctor and I already had one for this Dr.

Brought my grandmother in for her appointment today. The waiting room is so nice and clean. Their restroom is right off of their waiting room, unisex and super clean. They have a cold water dispenser for clients to help themselves to. From the receptionist to their doctor, everyone is so caring and extremely helpful all while smiling. They treated my grandmother so well, it made me happy. When the doctor came in, he listened to my grandmother and then stated what he suggested as her treatment. Thank you to all staff for treating my grandmother with the upmost respect during her appointment today! Keep up the great work.

Love Maddie and Dr T. The majority of the staff are great. Had 1 bad experience after a procedure with the nurse but I've had multiple procedures there with only 1 bad so I will continue to go there

Please read BEFORE considering this clinic and reach out to me directly on social media for more details- Tara Belcik. I am a nurse of 16 years. I became a pain management patient only 2 months ago after having 3 level cervical fusion ended of 2020. The first visit they prescribed tramadol ER and one tramadol OR (surgeon had me on 2 tramadol IR's). Tramadol IR only works with one Tylenol for me so the ER version had no benefit. I let Maddie, NP know the Tramadol ER did Not work so she ordered Belbuca. Due to inflammatory liver disease all meds have to be approved by Texas Liver Institute to make sure they won't elevate my liver enzymes more. My physician there recommended I continue tramadol longer because Belbuca cause liver enzyme elevation. I called Friday to this office asking what to do because I was in a lot of pain, could not start the Belbuca and only had one IR tramadol a day to take which wasn't enough on work days. I also have a fractured molar so the pain was really bad. They wouldn't order it stating the NO note said tramadol doesn't help, I explained only tramadol ER didn't help, the IR version with Tylenol has helped since surgery. I explained why I couldn't take Belbuca. All of this was told to receptionist, then the MA then the office manager. The office manager got angry about the amount of time the call took (even though most of the hour I was on hold or explaining same story to next associate). She said "we don't have an hour for every patient", I agreed with her I'd like to send a call request back from the dr and keep my original appointment for this Wednesday because I had a babysitter already set up for it. I got a text today, 2 days before my appointment stating it was canceled. I called and was informed dr T discharged me because he can't help me and because my call Friday took too long??? Mind you I was setting up this Wednesday two nerve blocks and we had a plan in place to burn nerve of effective. We had a lot of hope that would help. They did not give me proper warning and discharged me inappropriately. Luckily, as a nurse with a very close friend whom is a physician on the Texas Medical Board I know I can file a complaint and will be immediately doing so since the Dr and NP refuses to speak with me so I could clear up the confusion about the tramadol ER vs IR and how the IR did help me. Very inappropriate discharge and Horrible first pain management experience. You deserve better as a patient than this physician and his office manager. Do not go here.

The staff is very professional. Dr. Tschickardt was sincerely engaged with me and my medical issues. I highly recommend this clinic.

I have been a patient at Coastal Bend Pain Management for ten years now. The care I have received here has allowed me to continue to function in my daily life and continue to work. The people who work there, from the people who greet you when you get to the entrance, to the doctor, nurse practitioners, nurses, medical assistants, every single person, makes me feel important and cared for. I don't have to wait long to see the doctor or NP and they answer the phone or return my calls quickly. They are also good to take care of referrals quickly. Dr. Michael Tschickardt cares about his patients and makes sure that his staff keeps that the main thing. I highly recommend this pain management clinic to anyone in pain, acute or chronic.
