China Chef Restaurant

I had to run an errand in Bay City and we were starving. So I looked up on yelp and this place had a solid amount of reviews. When we pulled up, we found out quickly this was the place for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. The parking lot was packed! We had to park in the back near the railroad tracks. Once inside the place is bigger than I thought, and even though it was full we were seated immediately. The buffet line is small, but does get refilled quite often. My favorite dish were the corn nuggets.

First time here. Very disappointed in the General Taos Chicken. Though it was full of flavor, the chicken was spongy. Hate to say it, but you know if you microwave chicken for too long it gets spongy. I really needed a knife to help cut the chicken. Again the flavor was there but the texture of the chicken was not good. On another note the waitstaff were all great very attentive and very nice.

This place has been around for 33 years. I've been eating here since as long as I can remember and the food has ALWAYS been consistently wonderful. They have a lunch buffet with about 25 items that are all delicious. Not like those mega buffets that everything tastes the same. China Chef is top notch for this little town!

HORRIBLE. Decor and cleanliness were acceptable, but not great. I was so excited to see Chow Mei Fun on the menu. It looked beautiful when it arrived after a considerable wait, but it didn't smell great. I thought it must just be the sauce. One bite told me the truth - rotten, stinking beef. I spit it in my napkin. The waitstaff were two teenage girls that sat gabbing in a corner and ignored us. We never saw any other employees. Our drinks went unfilled. My son's chicken was a bit undercooked. He stuck with french fries. Our waitress arrived with the check and didn't even notice my untouched plate. We just wanted to get the heck out of there. Never again.

I love this Chinese restaurant in Bay City it's delicious food. I eat it on Fridays because it's something to look forward to like the end of the week treat. I only have one criticism the wings are just a tad salty other than that love the place I order the wings every time and they are moist and good. Oh one more thing not to be rude honestly but sometimes the wings taste old. Any way this place is one of my favorites I would recommend it to anyone.

Great place for a la carte and to go. Never had the buffet. Service is great. Albert the owner is very friendly and takes care of his regulars.

The food was really good, only problem was the crab puffs with little flavor, but the service was great and we met a local patron with a great heart , thanks Sarah for the warm welcome.

Awesome place to get food at! One of my top restaurants in Bay City! I highly recommend. I love their Sweet and Sour Chicken is the perfect blend (this is the Chick-Fil-A of Chinese food), the Eggrolls make me wanna roll out of bed, and the rice is nice!

Food was cold, the selection was poor. First time there and it was an all around bad experience

The only food that was really edible was the fried stuff. Any of the typical Chinese food meats were horrible. Highly recommend you don't waste your money here
