When we visit my MBL we make sure to go to chapitas for either breakfast or lunch. Today I had the chicken fried steak and it was good. Service is great, food hot, good portions.

I love their Mexican plate and their taco plate. It is definitely my favorite. We used to go there at least once a week when we lived in Harlingen but now we are in Brownsville so it's a little farther to go but will definitely go again soon.

Very delicious food! Breakfast is phenomenal! I got the 2 eggs over-medium, potatoes, beans and sausage. The Menudo is real authentic and savory! Flour tortillas are homemade and so soft and yummy! Service was very quick and attentive. Will be coming back for dinner

Excellent food here. We've came here each time we are in the valley. Our favorite is the Catfish strips meal. It comes with slaw, French fries and a drink for $6.99. The catfish is just delicious. We've eaten other things here too and it's all very good. The place is always busy. The waitresses are excellent, we really appreciate their good work.

If you want good breakfast in Harlingen or Brownsville, head over to Chapitas. Best breakfast in Harlingen, periodMy wife and I have been to the Rio Grande valley many times and we always make it a point to stop at Chapitas for breakfast, either coming from or going to McAllen, TX. The portions they give you are copious, the food is authentic and the prices are very reasonable. The tortillas are home-made, the eggs are great and the pancakes are enormous. You will walk out of Chapitas fat and happy. The location is a little out of the way. It's just east of where Hwy 77 intersects with Hwy 83, just west of the airport, on the north sunshine strip. It is worth the trip, my friends. Visited March 2010

This is everything a person could want in an unpretentious setting in town. Across the street from the Department of Motor Vehicles (DVM), the place is right in the center of town, easy to get to and offers a comfortable setting for individuals and families including some with small children. They boast a very large menu with your typical Texmex items. Portions are not only large, they are also quite inexpensive. Flavors are authentic in part due to the use of very fresh veggies not previously canned. The food is noticeably NOT overly salty, something that should be of value to those on restricted diets. Even the chips are not salted!Portions are abundant. Today we were a party of four. My friends were very pleased with their dishes. One of them is a professional cook so I was especially pleased. Our waitress was pretty, warm and vivacious, we could not have asked for more.Lunch for the four of us including two breakfast tacos with refried beans and several salsas and pico de Gallo with excellent corn chips and two luncheon plates with coffee and diet Pepsi came out to under $18.50! You can't grow the food as inexpensively as that! Besides, how would you grow a diet Pepsi? Or any Pepsi for that matter?Great place for really good eats, super comfy environment, and you can't help but feel good long after your visit.

Dry rice. Bland beans. Thin enchiladas and I was still hungry. The other plates were basically the same rice, beans, tortillas and cheese in a different style. It wasn't authentic. Taco Bell is better. The decor was not pleasing.

I had a potato and egg taco, it came with a side of beans , I also got a cup of menudo. The taco was very good and big. The cup of menudo tasted delicious, of course adding the onion, lime and chili that it comes with makes it even more delicious. The flour tortillas are also homemade! The service is great also! Will be coming back!
